Getting a newspaper signed

I know that newspapers aren't exactly the best idea for autographs due to the relatively poor quality of the paper, but there is one in particular I'm looking to get autographed at next weekend's Comic Con in Chicago.  What would be the ideal pen to use for this?  I'm assuming that a regualr sharpie might not be the best idea, since it would be especially prone to bleeding.

With out a doubt a sharpie or any other marker would not be ideal for that...iam not sure what ink would be best but I personally would use a ball point pen...one other suggestion I can give you is lamenting the paper and then get it signed with a sharpie as I have done in the past which in my experience worked quite well...I will post the pics of those lamented items tomorrow...I hope this helps...good luck

this may be your best bet...it worked really well for me....here are 2 of my newspaper clippings i had gotten laminated...the first clipping is from 2001of Miguel Batista signed with a sharpie also you can see in both picture the paper never turned yellow...the second is Bill Selby signed in 2002....both autos are very clean and still as sharp as they were when I got them...

Sharpie is a bad idea on such thin paper.

I got Eddie VanHalen once to sign a newspaper at the Guitar Center in Hollywood.  It was a previous article and I had brought it for him to sign.  It looks like CRUD!!  I have never again fooled around with newspapers..........

LOL.  That's what I was starting to think.  I was going to get Christopher Lloyd to sign a prop replica newspaper from BTTF Part II, but I'm starting to lean toward Gray's Sports Almanac :)

Hey, when all else fails, go for it.  The one thing I never ever got signed nor had any intention, was paper money.

Maybe a paint pen of some sort . . . the problem with sharpie is that is bleeds, while ball point looks less than stellar.  I suppose I can always test a few on old newspapers to see if I should even bother . . .

Theres also a wide variety of Christopher Lloyd 8x10 color and black and white photos on ebay....that also may be your best bet if there's still time between now and the signing.....they have may images of back to the future stills on there as well as other photos of his career

Yep, they'll have tons of those at the Comic Con.  I found a prop replica "Emmett Brown Committed" newspaper from BTTF II, and I thought it might be a fun thing to get signed.  Almost seems like it isn't worth it though.

Same here.  At $30, I plan on getting at least a couple things signed.  The BTTF has huge sentimental value to me, and Lloyd has always been among my favorite actors.

 

At worst, he'll have tons of photos at his table, and it's a Comic Con - so many of the vendors will have their own photos and BTTF memoribilia.
