We've had a few posts and blogs about autographs vs. photo ops. Well, now another company has seen an opportunity to monetize on another more recent fan trend: Video messages. Cameo is now selling video shout outs on their website (https://www.cameo.com/), and their talent roster is continuing to grow.

Curious what people think about this, as fans more so than as collectors - obviously these videos cannot be resold. My own feelings are mixed. Nice idea, neat product that is decidedly more unique than and autograph or even a photo op. But it seems maybe kind of . . . awkward? Like you're paying someone to pretend they like you. I occasionally see fans asking for this at shows I go to. I personally have requested this only once (for a friend too sick to make it to a show), but I do see it frequently enough by other fans.

I love autographs, but in person meet & greets kind of strike me the same way as these videos seem to you.   I remember standing in a line after a Rev. Horton Heat performance (my favorite band... seen them 25 times) and it all just seemed goofy,  I didn't know them and they didn't know me... awkward.     Now I am sitting here wondering how many severely introverted autograph collectors are out there.

People sending money to youtube personalities for chats and requests is kind of a strange one for me also... but I guess it all comes down to having a personality, look, or talent that people want a piece of.
