Hi,

I keep noticing the influx of Rich Penn auction items from Michael Jackson on the Live auctioneers website...these include, signed photos, fedoras, worn and personal items...I wondered if anyone had any personal experience  of buying these items and if they were ALL fake?? The majority I can see look no good in my opinion

Thanks Phil

I've been watching this auction for days, there are a lot of questionable items.

I know Ivo!  Signed loafers and fedoras for $750...hmmmm  something wrong there lol

I think it's important to note that the seller (of the MJ items) has said that these are from their own 'collection'.  Some items are signed personally ie to a named person.  Most of the remainder have almost certainly been bought from elsewhere. I would apply the same caution in buying these items as I would to any item on ebay or another 'unknown' source- because many of the items don't have a known origin.

Of the items that do have eg a 'COA', one notable one is the signed suit, which is described in its provenance as having been left in a storage facility. (We know Mj sometime left items behind on tours etc, but why would he sign a suit for himself...)  Anyway, this is the item:

There's an interesting article about Elkouby here:

Lastly, it's always worth looking up reviews of the auction house.  It seems that the shipping agent can be expensive. :

Thanks Lizzie :-)

Very welcome. :)

PS I should add that there was indeed a Jackson's storage warehouse and the contents were seized by the warehouse owner (H. Vaccaro) for unpaid debts.  It looks as though the Elkouby COA borrows from that story.

As I recall, both Janet and Michael tried to get their items back, as they were not party to the debt. There was a court case but they were unsuccessful.

The above article mentions a sale of MJ and other Jackson items at Guernsey's auctions in 2007.  The article also mentions that Vaccaro reported a burglary at the warehouse (which contained items unsold at the Guernseys sale) in late July 2009.

After MJ's death in 2009, a businessman called Howard Mann acquired the stored items.

There is a little bit of the story here:

Gotta finally held an auction of the remaining family items in 2014:
