I wonder where the box of these rejected/returned autopens by Dylan will be sent next?

Korea???

They should be sent to a Pulp farm or a Pulp mill !!!

Some of you guys are way overreacting with sending emails to the UK publisher's MD demanding responsibility for Indigo/Canadian fiasco, as well as almost jumping at them for copies being autopenned - which we don't have a clue about it until first copies arrive, probably within next week or so. I would rather ask you to sit down on your butts and keep it quiet until we know for sure what we are dealing with. Escalating stuff to S&S publishing house at this stage won't do any good and some of you are acting like angry teenagers.

I would say there is 50-50 chance those will end up legitimate, especially considering the limited nature of this UK release (why bother with autopen for just 99 copies while they could put out 1000 of them easily) and the fact Dylan has just completed a UK tour literally a week ago (that would make it significantly easier to arrange signing 100 copies at his hotel or backstage before one of the shows).

Just asking - stop writing to this lady from publishing house and let's wait a few days to see what we are dealing with. With PayPal claim form getting money back for those who invested 500 quid won't be a problem while acting like this can possibly jeopardize this any many other deals to follow.

Fully agree, acting like children and emailing her isn’t helpful—especially if you didn’t buy this UK version from Coles.  Mistakes happen, the US a publisher took them down when they were informed of the autopen. At this point, the UK is innocent until proven guilty.

100% agree.

Angry teenagers.. Children.... why do people resort to demeaning others with labels in order to get their way? Fact is still that the publisher has already tried to con us all out of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars already. You don't believe we should demand answers? You are scared they will yank future autographed items because of these complaints?.. no chance. They do not release signed copies for our benefit. Its to create a buzz and gain free publicity.. in the case of these 99 Dylan signed books, they are not going to yank them because a bunch of complaints, calling them out for deception that they themselves caused with Indigo. If real, and they yank these 99 books, they will lose about $50k in combined revenue. They are not releasing these for the sole purpose in making you happy. If these are real, I truly believe these 99 are an attempt to cover up the Indigo incident. We  currently have a chance to demand answers for that very Indigo incident, we should 100% take it while the opportunity exists. BEFORE THEY CAN SHOVE REAL AUTOGRAPHS IN OUR FACE.. At the very least, just to put pressure on them and make them aware that we will not take another attempt like this in the future. I just won't see this in any other way. This publisher is not your friend.. you should not be worried about hurting their little feelings.. They would have been criminals if the Indigo fiasco was not brought to light

I say keep writing.. find other emails connected to that publisher and don't stop demanding answers.

Here's a list of their UK division email we can attempt to communicate with as well. Ill keep looking for a North American list.

This is bordering on unhealthy. If I had my time again I wouldn’t have posted this deal in all honesty.

I agree, harassing people for answers is not the way to go about this

True, lawsuits would be better but it has been looked into before and is just not possible for consumers

I'm in the UK and ordered an autopenned Indigo / Simon & Schuster Copy and saw this post from itf immediately and  watched for 17 minutes as the Coles 99 copies went down to zero.

I chose not to order a copy as Simon & Schuster as a company were involved in the fraudulant 1st attempt at the Indigo debacle and i do not deal with FRAUDSTERS  at all, so will NEVER buy from Indigo or anything published from Simon & Schuster ever again out of principle.

As there are hundreds / thousands around I will buy a Signed Bob Dylan Print when funds allow for six or seven times the cost of the book - as I know there will be no doubt over one of those.

Word would have gotten around in the Bob Dylan community with the autopenned Indigo / Simon & Schuster Philosophy of Modern song books and irrespective of whether these Coles books are legitimate or not they will always carry a certain stigma with them.

Also with the letter being put online from S&S stating in bold capitals that they are definitely Signed by Bob is opening up the scenario where if they are legit, the letter could be faked, receipts could be faked  and we all know the Signature could be too... so there could be 99 genuine copies and X amount of fakes floating around in the end.....

I am very surprised that none of you that ordered from Coles are asking for proof that these are indeed signed and NOT autopenned, taking into account some are being shipped overseas, I would want to know for sure before they were shipped, it would take a minute to compare the first few to see.

I have been a customer of Coles for several years and ordered from them many times over the years and hand on my heart Coles are 100% legit, however as already proven that cannot be said for Simon & Schuster.

Imagine if that one autopenned Indigo / S&S  copy had not been mistakenly shipped early and put online, we would have not known until it was too late and  would all still be fighting them now to get our money back and you would all have a very different view on ordering any of these from Coles - I guarantee that!!!

Just to re-iterate - This is why i am surprised that you don't want to know they are real before they are shipped............. but that's just my view!

I agree with you on every point, including Coles being a very honest and reliable company - I have also ordered many books from them over the years - alas definitely not the same can be said from S&S. Reputation is everything is the collecting world, and once it's gone, it's gone.
