Yeah, that does make for a convincing visual. I have a decent collection of (post 7" vinyl stamp) Tate autographs and a couple of in-persons, so I might just send these straight back regardless.

Actually I did just come across a couple on a random FB rummage, and I see the concern.

I rolled the dice on these CDs to see if I got any good ones, and I went 0 for 3. That bottom one is hilarious.

There are some out there that are real. Mine seems to be one of them. It is still disingenuous that secretarial items were mixed in.

Im going to send my vinyl back unopened. The ones I see look like crap.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm still waiting for a follow up on the signed CDs and the return label there.

That's one that has me scratching my head. Apparently Tate's doing the faster, more slanted sig just about exclusively now (all of her ones from the Rough Trade signing yesterday that I saw looked like that) and ones like yours are being deemed "secretarial." But it doesn't look "wrong" per se, just slower like her signatures from maybe a few years back.

Thanks for your thoughts.  I'm thinking it's probably OK based on the alltoowander comparison graphics on the Reddit thread, as I can see a definite difference in flow regarding the top and bottom scans, and what I'm looking at seems to be of a comparable flow to the top scans especially the heart portion. However, I'm no expert on her sig, and I'm wondering if there are enough consistent examples out there to even attempt an authentication.  But if the Rough Trade scans are assumed to be authentic, then we might have a Norah Jones type situation on our hands.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tatemcrae/comments/1iwmby2/is_my_signed_cd... BTW someone put a Rough Trade scan on this thread. Looking at all these scans is blowing my mind.

The US preorders I got for her first album (shown below) are more upright/slower, while the UK ones and Banquet all have that same faster/slanted style that's been a bit more common for authentic examples. I always assumed these were signed earlier than the rest, or possibly at a different signing altogether (i.e. after realizing the signing volume would require a somewhat faster sig to get through).

One fan thought these were secretarial, but I don't think so. Especially earlier on, Tate was not notably consistent with her signature. And, funny enough, of all the preorder signatures I have from her (or  ones from Banquet, Newbury signings), this is probably the version that looks closest to what I got in person.

Judging by alltoowander's comparisons, the shape and flow of the split heart seems to be a noticeable difference between the so-called reals and secretarials.  The so-called secretarials don't get the shape or flow right on the heart, and sometimes they don't even have one at all. I think your scans are real and I think my scan gets the necessary details right even if it is a bit more slow/defined in nature. But you can also see differences in flow among the so-called secretarials to the point that several signers are possibly in play. Or not? Who knows.

The Mardi Gras vinyls may be real (er) lol

The ones Ive seen look a heck of alot better than the straight release

See, now that I'm looking at that heart more closely, I'm not seeing the same pen strokes as the UK preorders/Banquet signing.
