Authenticity is Everything
signed sports memorabilia
I am buying a present for a friend's son on line and found a signed baseball on sports memorabilia.com - can someone tell me if this is a genuine site or if it it is one that sells forgeries. I was about to buy one on amazon when i saw all the comments about their memorabilia so now i am concerned. He wants Tim Lincecum and this is the only site I can find things on.

Uneven dealer from what I can tell. I checked out the Aaron Rodgers stuff and saw a mixture of good, bad and questionable. The ones that looked undoubtedly fake, not surprisingly, were generally the GAI items. Personally the only ones I would even consider would be the the Mounted Memories items.
There are genuine items in the mix for sure, but based on what I'm seeing, this is a big, sloppy, incompetent dealer.

Tina, I just did a quick google search, and there appears to be a business out in California called Lefty's Sports Cards that does signings with several members of the Giants, including Lincecum. I can't personally vouch for them, but it might be worth looking into.

Don't buy any autographed item unless it comes with a certificate of authenticity. All reputable dealers will offer this.

Certificates of Authenticity are not worth the paper they are printed on. Yes, some reputable dealers offer them, but the problem is that many non-reputable (aka crooks) offer them also. I would not judge a dealer based on their certificates. some make them very nice, but again, it does not make up for the forgery that most of them represent.
