I think it's run by a guy who goes to tons of auctions in the UK and buys a lot in bulk etc.

Some good - some bad. He lists it without really vetting the material I'd suspect. No return policy as well.

I'd lean toward no on the Sean Connery item. Super rare to see a non-vintage Sean Connery item with any inscription and there's something off about the signature.

Brick and Mike, could you please explain why you think it's not genuine?  Having looked at the auction, I  noticed the "price" is not $49....or, was not, since it has been re-listed.  It was a starting bid, which is now been changed to $62.34 (U.S.)  I would think the seller is hoping to get more.  Finally, the seller does have a return policy!

That Connery is a good example of his early Bond signature.  It's real in my opinion.  I plan on bidding on it.

Hey Jack,

I did explain about the seller, whom I'm somewhat familiar with and he isn't an expert. I've seen plenty of good items and plenty of bad items sold by him.

Two things that just on their face make it hard to believe this item is authentic is the low price point and the addition of an inscription which as I mentioned is quite, quite rare on a non-vintage Connery picture. The Sean in Sean Connery might look ok, but it's in the Connery that other problems seem to surface.

This isn't an item signed from the James Bond era as the writing utensil makes obvious. An earlier type signature of his with red flags and eyebrow raising differences in the signature make the idea that it's authentic slim in this collector's opinion.

Thank you, guys, for your responses. Very interesting to me, and I think important for collectors.  As for the autograph, I wasn't sure if the autograph was good or bad, but it seemed similar to the one I purchased from the B'BC awhile back. ( I've attached a scan.)  I was told that the autographed picture was submitted by Connery to one of his favoured charities, and was subsequently auctioned off. The B'BC also gave me a copy of a signed letter from Connery that came with the item.  Apparently, Connery had signed a few photos for this charity.

Hi guys, just thought I'd jump in on this thread. I recently discovered this seller, and yes he does carry a lot of really cheap signatures. But I would have to agree with Brick that you have to take a close look at what you wish to bid on. I just purchased a Charlton Heston which actual did list as "probably secretarial", but in my opinion I believe to be genuine. I also picked up a John Gielgud which also appears to look ok to me. But yes there are others which I'm not quite sure on so I pass on those. If he's been doing it this long I'm impressed by the fact he's able to find so many to sell week after week?!
