I think the USPS is safe overall and it would be risky and stupid for a postal delivery person to steal your mail. Few would steal your stuff and chance getting a federal felony.

I hope your right I'm glad you answered I love hearing what people think, it would be risky but who'd notice? Just us the TTMers and even if we say something how can we prove it? A typical TTM has no tracking number thats the only reason why I thought about it.

Typically one hears about USPS mailmen stealing money or checks on occassion.

Of more concern is the automated machinery and handling of the contents that typically results in damages.  Of course, this also stems to the senders who don't have it properly packaged and think that putting"  Picture Do Not Bend" on it will imrpove upon automated machinery reading capability.

If you suspect something then contact the local post master with the concern as also delivering an item to the wrong address is commonplace more than one thinks.

This is a subject we all have concerns with...why is all my bills pristine and my ttm's always are either damaged or tampered with...now not all the time of course but I have had many of them damaged...I stop writing do not bend on envelopes because more often then not there always bent...is it on purpose ?...who knows...but it always seems like an invitation to get your item folded...also...I am well aware that the USPS knows very well what we do...this is the one reason I have yet to send a ball out because its obvious there is a ball in the mailer...I am going to sooner or later because I have to do it...but still have not tried...but I am certain with out a doubt the post office knows what the TTM collectors are doing...

I dunno...  the USPS people are pretty good.  at my local one they will denote if the pkg arrives at their facility damaged in any way (we have had that chat).

alot of it has to do with the skimpy packaging.  I went at it with one celebrities "agents" over pkging and even provided them with at least 2 that came to mind who know how to pack (R&R & Autographworld) while volunteering to mail them the ingredients.  If one receives damage from either of these two it is going to be the exception and the involvement of the samsonite guerilla.

You tell sellers to not just take the card set and wrap it or just put it in a priority mailer (used for flat items btw) and then surround it in newspaper and think it won't get damaged.

I love the responses followed by the pi$$ing contests, claims and return costs that are soon to follow.

what i do is add DC to the SASE with my baseball and explain in my letter why I do it and it seems to work for me then i got proof

I've sent a few baseballs out and I've never had a single problem.

I think it's all about what you send out. I'm not condoning theft but I imagine it'd be quite easy for a small envelope to get stolen or lost.
