Let us know the outcome of the JSA opinion, the only thing i dont like about this but is minor is where the sig starts on the M, it doesnt looks as rounded but from the first loop on the M onward i am happy with. I would be happy to have this despite others saying its not authentic. Even though the M looks like its on an angle i have seen many examples of this which were authenticated by UD and the Jordan part of sig looks good. I dont see why the gold pen makes a different as this was probably signed at a event jordan was at and the person who obtained the sig may have thought that gold would have been a good idea. I use to obtain autographs for a memorabilia company and i used which ever colour i believed would stand out as black can sometimes be hard to see when it comes to photos such as these due to all the dark areas in this photo especially where it is signed. Remember that all comments are just opinions and no one here seems to be a forensic examiner or authenticator.

so you are saying that a forensic examiner would be better qualified to offer an opinion on this signature? what makes you think that because I and several others on here are not paid authenticators, that our abilities to evaluate signatures and offer opinions is somehow less viable? Authenticators authenticate thousands of different signatures, and there is no way anyone can be an expert on all of those. we offer opinions (yes they are opinions) on a select few that are in our area of strength. When I say strength, I mean these are signatures we have been studying for many years. I would take the opinion of a handful of the people on this over any authenticator and forensic examiner in the world.

I agree with u completely. But i'm a new member and i don't know everybody by name in this great online community. So there is no way i can look up credentials or know infact who these great people are. Regardless of your opinion, i appreciate the time u took to look at my post.....

Eric, we are all happy to help you in any we can. its a matter of what you are comfortable with. my comments above were directed at the previous post, which made reference to us not being forensic examiners. It made me chuckle because many of them have proven themselves to be horrible at authenticating signatures.

Its is very possible Jordan switched pens or used the one the person who got the signautre from.
In the past during the 90's and early 2000's Jordan would carry his own black sharpie pen . Also Jordan rarely , and I mean rarely signs at events other than golf tournaments. He did sign when he was a player with the bulls and with the Wizards. He will not sign on his off time ( gambling , dinner , out on the town) . He is very very strict on where he signs at .
Jordan is not the type of person I can see picking up a diffrent pen and saying , well its gonna look better in this color , so I will do it . He would just skip you if you asked for anything diffrent than a black sharpie autograph . Remember the guy probably has an ego as big as his career achviements.
Ive been doing this autograph thing for awhile . Jordan the last three years I noticed does not carry a pen anymore at golf tourneys, but he does grab one pen and sign everything with that. He also does swith to silver paint pen on items like black jordan shoes. I saw that in vegas last year.
If you had any info on where and when the autograph was signed . It is easy to find out if he signed that day and in what color . Like I said the sig can be real . But from what I know about Jordan , it doesnt looke like it .

Thank you again for your insight and all this valued input......i bought this auto from a man named Jeff smith at MVP collectibles the address on the coa is as followed: Post Office box 2641 Fallon NV, 89407-2641. I purchased this auto from him in 1998 at a trading card show inside the MGM casino. He had other autos by wilt and bill russell that infact had PSA coa's. It was my first time seeing a PSA graded auto in my life. I was a kid at the time spending birthday money from my grandparents. So u can see why i need the valued input.... Have a blessed day and enjoy your weekend. Another note, years later on ebay i saw a gold autoed 8x10 MJ last shot photo which looked identical to this one. My guess is either this was signed at some event and it wasn't the only one of it's kind, or this master forger put acouple of these on the market.

Look on rareair23.com. It's owned by the worlds top MJ expert. Even more so than anyone at PSA and JSA. It's an amazing fan for Jordan collectors.

Its surprising, actually their are a great number of people here that are authenticators. Actually some of the top experts in the world. The guys who often give opinions on sport items here know their stuff just as good as psa or jsa, but that could be because some of them work for those companies as sports authenticators. I dont know MJ at all, but i can say that the members who have offered advice, although negative news, i would greatly greatly take to heart.

there is no need to get defensive, all im saying is that an authenticator or examiner who are recognized can supply documentation stating that in there opinion the item is authentic or not. It doesnt help if lets say he wants to sell it and when asked is it authentic and he says 'yes because some guy i dont know on a website told me it is or isnt so it must be', at least if there is documentation from someone like PSA, Global, JSA stating it is in there opinion then it will help with the sale in all regard and let him sleep at night knowing the truth. I know all companies mentioned have had there issues but a collector would rather have something from them then just the word of a person on this website who they dont know. If one of you are a recognized authenticator or examiner from a recognized company than help this guy out and have him send it to you for a thorough examination and then render your opinion otherwise just let him get it checked properly.

I do not recall anywhere that Eric is asking for this "opinion" for purposes of resale. He simply started the discussion with the "real or fake" question. That implies that he is just asking if his item is legit. I cannot disagree with you that an opinion from one of the recognized companies would typically add to the resale value, if he is just looking for an opinion on authenticity, then I go back to my statement that the opinions of many of the collectors here in many cases are more reliable than those of these TPA's.
and for the record I am a collector.
