Hello everyone,

This is a questionable item that i picked up early in my collecting career. I was looking for a Lou Reed and found this copy of The Raven supposedly signed by Lou on ebay. Since that particular purchase, i have collected quite a few authentic Lou Reed's on a variety of items, and none really look like this. (typically much more messy). Now i suppose that this could be authentic if he was sitting down signing each book very nicely, but i have to say i am a little skeptical of that. But im hoping someone else out their may have an opinion on the item for good or bad.

Thanks for reading

Carl

This could be real and looks much better than some of his recent signatures.....i dont know what the point of signing is if it just looks s***...check out youtube videos of lou signing.....there some signed numbered and limited edition books of lou reeds out there check out abebooks.com

Thanks for the reply Nathan. I hope it is real as its a very nice example of him if legit. The part that concerned me the most was the L. Typically it is not composed of two lines, and instead one motion making the top and bottom portion of the L forming a rounded juncture. The R also looked very crisp to me, but not so far off to get me that worried. I checked out that book site you were referring too and saw some nice books, but they didnt have pictures of the graph to compare too, at least not that i could find. I did do a little more in depth searching and found a couple singed copies of The Raven that had similar formation. So maybe their is hope. I appreciate the advice and help. This is what im used to seeing all the time with Lou:

I have two signed photographs or Lou Reed that I took myself and he signed both 11 x 14 i will photograph one tommorow and post it, the above example is the one he will sign on the street when hassled.

I was interested in getting one of the signed limited edition books, then you know it is authenticate I emailed the dealer in regards to this one and they sent me a picture it looks a lot like yous to my memory. I think the L is just a slip of the pen personally and he doesnt really care how he signs
