Heath Ledger Signature Study
I was wondering if we could compile a comprehensive thread of real Heath Ledger signatures. I know he's real tough because his signature had variations towards the end of his life. Please post any in person or confirmed authentic examples you've got, and share any traits we should be looking for when authenticating.
I'm afraid I have nothing to offer but my request. I can copy and paste stuff from AW or RR, but that'd be cheating!

As for price-wise I have no idea to be honest with you. Been wondering how much a Ledger autograph should sell for if they have not been authenticated myself. Would be keen to hear what others think! On a side note, you are drivng me nuts! First you obtain the Levitt autograph and now attempting a Ledger. The two most sought after autographs I'm hoping to obtain! :)

Many years ago (probably 2002-ish) I bought a 10 Things I Hate About You Script signed by the entire cast at a charity silent auction. I put it away in a file and didn't think much more of it...until Heath died. It's still in a file in storage (so I can't post a pic until I get to storage), but just wondering what people think it might be worth? For purposes of this discussion - assume the signatures are authentic. Anyone have ideas?

I'd imagine a heck of a lot!
Not only do you have a Heath Ledger autograph on there but also Joseph Gordon-Levitt who's renowned for being extrememly difficult to obtain. Adding Julia Stiles to that list is just icing on the cake.
If memory serves me correctly, was'nt this Heath Ledger's first major role in the US? Could also play a part in terms of monetry value for those that indulge in a bit of nostalgia :)
If I had the money, I'd offer $1500 if authentic of course!

That's a lot! Thanks for the estimation. I'm not a collector, just a fan of the movie who happened to pick this up so I hadn't really thought about the other people on the script - that's interesting about JGL. I don't know if it is was his first US production, but it was definitely his first big US production. As for authenticity, I can't imagine someone donating a fake to a fundraiser (but who knows?!) and I remember the charity so I may be able to go back and get it authenticated, should it come to that. I'm not looking to sell but, excuse the silly question, I'm assuming this will just increase in value as time goes on?
If anyone is interested I will post a photo when I pull it out of storage in case you want to see a very early Heath signature, but it will probably be a few weeks.

I hope that your item is real, but i hate to break some info that you definetly need to take into consideration. Being new to autographs, its hard to imagine that their are businesses out their right now that are selling nothing but forgeries, and have been for decades, and yet they are never shut down by the authorities. So its a hard thing to imagine someone donating fake items to a charity sale.
But the fact of the matter is that a great number of autographed items donated to charity auctions are fake. Im not saying yours is fake, just that charity auctions are notorious for forgeries in the autograph community. Their are a few auctions that regularly do produce solid items, but the vast majority in my opinion will sell anything that they are donated. And alot of people donate fakes. Their are numerous reasons for this, and some may just not know they are donating a fake.
Heath Ledger autographs are very very commonly forged, and whats even scarier, is that autographs like Heath turn up at charity auctions and estate sales constantly, and they are almost always forged. I know its hard to believe or accept, but it is the truth.
If you would like to know if you have an authentic item i would recommend taking good pictures of the item and posting them here on the site, and asking for opinions on their authenticity. Their are some great people here when it comes to Heath, and if you have a genuine item, people will know. Heath can be tough to tell sometimes, but with other signatures on the item, the authenticity will be much easier to prove. I do hope its real for you, but unfortunately charity auctions are often loaded with fakes.
For autographs their are several places that i always would avoid, unless under unique circumstances. These are: any internet site without doing alot of homework on, las vegas autograph shops, mall autograph shops, charity auctions, estate sales, anything from Florida (lol, without doing alot of research), just to name a few. Its hard to believe, but even the reputable charity auctions often contain fakes. People are really sick, and charity auctions are one of the places you are most likely to find bad items.
But i would suggest posting some pics and see what others say. That way you can sleep soundly knowing that if you sell it, that the person who purchased it will have authentic signatures.

Thanks so much for the information. That's really interesting and not something I would have thought about. The good news is that I don't have anything invested in this being real (either monetarily or emotionally) so que sera sera. That said, was Heath a big draw right after 10 Things? I bought this so long ago and he wasn't famous -- at the time I bought it the only famous one was Julia Stiles. It was a fundraiser for the US National Water Polo team and one of the LA-based parents donated it. Like I said, I'll post it when I pull it out. Thanks!!

Are you currently selling this? The reason I ask is because this identical autograph is being sold on another website. Somebody even asked whether or not it's authentic a little earlier in this topic.
