MANTLE USED AND SIGNED BALL + TED WILLIAMS SIGNED BALL

Hey fellow AMLers, I just traded for four baseballs and was wondering whether two of them (the two most desirable) are genuine. Well, at least in your opinion.

 

Here are the photos:

 

The Mantle ball was used during batting practice/casual hitting during an alumni/old timers game and shows good wear for its age. The Williams ball is in amazing condition in my opinion and is definitely of the period (1990s) but you cant really see the wear in the photo. I got a GREAT deal on the two (well from my opinion) through trade so I'm just wondering what you guys think of them. Thanks!

I think it's definitely worth doing a PSA/DNA "Quick Opinion" for $8 bucks... It's either a very nice authentic, or a forgery. Terrier has a better eye for Williams than I do.

How can I do a quick opinion without putting it on eBay?

As far as I know, the only way to do it is via eBay auction. Just make it a 1-day auction with a ridiculous buy it now price so no one buys it, and then request quick opinion. Once you get the results, pull the auction.

Thank you for the posts. I can see a few minor issues that may make some question the authenticity of the Ted Williams baseball. I have review both signatures and would be comfortably saying that via scan both these autographed baseballs are more then Likely Genuine..

Thanks a lot Michael! If it makes any difference both came back from PSA/DNA Quick Opinion as being Likely Genuine.

I'm hoping there's a way I can find some provenance to the Mantle ball to show it was actually used in batting practice by him as that would make it so much cooler/increase the value haha.

While I certainly respect the opinions of PSA and Mike Frost, I am still not convinced.  this is an UD authenticated Williams, below. The one in the scan, at least to me, lacks the fluidity and personality of Ted's signature. Yes there are some technical issues with it, but I it just doesn't have the correct flow and character.

Could I be wrong.  Yes.  But I certainly would not feel comfortable with this particular ball in my collection.

I respect your opinion too, as you seem to be quite knowledgeable on Williams autos. I personally think it's authentic and the picture does the ball no justice, it just looks great in real life.
