Hi Everybody.

I am still unsure if I should purchase items from this seller not.

In response to my message:

Can you please advise which leading UK dealer you obtained the item from you do not mention a name in your listing. Are they a member of the UACC, and does the item include a COA signed by them.

The seller replied:

Hi - I don't normally give out dealer names as in the past others have taken that information and gone straight to the dealer for future purchases, so effectively I have lost business in doing this. In addition, as I am a member of the UACC I have to abide by their code of ethics and ensure that the items I sell are genuine and in that aspect I have to produce my own lifetime guarantee COA.. The dealer that I bought from originally introduced me to Autographica in 2004 and I have dealt with him on a personal level i.e. going to his house to obtain stock, meeting him at several occasions at signing and even acted as his agent at LFFC some years ago. He retired a few years ago to help set up a family business making picture frames. You have to be aware that any 3rd party COA could be worthless as if you bought it from me and there was a query on the original COA then the original dealer may only deal with the original person who bought from him (hope that makes sense). I have had a stall at LFCC selling my photos and they would not put up with any rubbish. I am also well known by the organiser of both the Autograph and Showmasters Conventions if this helps. Please look at my feedback carefully - I thinks it looks pretty OK but I have a golden rule which must apply to everybody (including me) - if in doubt then don't buy.
Cheers.

Does this sound like a dealer that you would trust?.

My gut instinct says yes, but I am far from being an expert (and am too trusting by far).

Any second opinions on this seller, or his response would be welcome.

If there is one particular item you have in mind, you might want to ask about it specifically.  My instinct is that he might have generally good inventory, but if he buys from a variety of other dealers at cheap prices, it might be a mixed bag.

Hi Rich thanks for your reply,

When asking advise about E-Bay sellers I usually just ask how good people think the actual E-Bay seller is, as I have learned that you usually get more responses that way.

After all not everybody can claim to be an expert on every signature.

There are actually a couple of items that I am interested in:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUMMER-GLAU-as-River-Tam-in-the-movie-SER...

Any comments on whether they are likely to be genuine would be appreciated

Since it's a UK seller, maybe you could also ask in the UK-based ACAF forum.

Unfortunately, it's a bit of a ghost town these days, so I'm not sure what kind of responses you'll get . . .

Thanks Rich, I did not even know that this forum existed, I am sure it will be of use to me now and in the future.

Some of his stuff looks okay but I do not like the Sarah Brightman photos he's selling, they looks off to me.

Hi Dan, thanks for your reply.

You have just confirmed for me what Rich said, that his stuff may be a mixed bag.

Given that I am unsure about the items which I want to buy, I think I will avoid.

Thanks again for your help.
