so would this mean that they ,heroes and legends have authenticated it in the past ? or owned it?

I have just sent Myron Ross - Owner of Heroes & Legends an email with a link to this discussion. As soon as he answers I will let you know what the story is with this item. I do not know of Myron being an autograph authenticator, so I would think that he was the original seller of this Doors 45 record.

ok thanks alot for helping me ,best regards Bart

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Authenticity

Heroes and Legends verify that the autographs were signed by the celebrity whose signature it displays. After an extensive examination, it will be our professional opinion that the item is authentic based upon genuine known exemplars for this particular signature. If, at any time, this item is proven to be other than as represented, we will offer an immediate replacement or refund of the purchase price, which shall be the purchasers’ sole remedy of claim.

Myron Ross has certificates in the following:

  • U.A.C.C. Autograph Appraisal Course
  • U.A.C.C. Authentication Course

Myron Ross is a charter member of the Memfia. The mysterious "Southern California Forger" is no doubt no mystery to him. Heroes and Legends supplied forged classic rock and Hollywood autographs and more to notorious forgery dealers like Forever Legends, owned by Maria Brockway, American Royal Arts, owned by Jerry Gladstone, Antiquities of Las Vegas and California, and many more.

They should put Ross and his associates in prison and throw away the keys.

He is claiming to be a member of the IADA and showing the logo on his website. He has not been a member in over 3 years and he has been ask to remove the logo.

 Bart,  I am Sorry..

Was classy move for you to jump in and help Michael.

Bart contacted me last year, probably in September or October, asking what I thought about this Doors album. I told him at the time I thought was fake. In December he emailed that he had gotten similar opinions from others, so he sent it to PAAS to get the opinion of a third party authenticator, and if they agreed it was bad, he would demand a refund from Antiquities in Caesar's Palace.

Obviously, PAAS agreed it was fake--in spite of it's AAU/Drew Max LOA...can you believe it?--but when he contacted Antiquities, he said they ignored him, and after a while he gave up.

I've had perhaps 10 email and IM exchanges with Bart over the last several months, and I think he's simply one more Antiquities victim who found himself in a nightmare. He had already asked a lot of collectors what they thought of his Doors signed album, and they thought it was fake, so why would he send it to PAAS and think they'd say differently so he could sell it as genuine? He sent it to PAAS to help him get a refund.

Antiquities didn't honor their guarantee (what a surprise from them, huh?), so he sold it to the antiques dealer because he is a friend of Barts, and he trusted that the guy wouldn't sell it as real.

Bart isn't as experienced as those of us who have been around for a while, so please, give him the benefit of the doubt. While most of us could have predicted what the antiques dealer would do, he's kinda new to this. Imagine going to Las Vegas, Caesar's Palace yet, and finding out that one of their shops is as reliable as a guy selling Rolex watches off his arm in an alley.

Every one of us here has paid dearly to learn what we've learned about autographs. The best way we can fight autograph fraud is to make sure this site is comfortable and approachable for collectors not as experienced as the more active members here.

And, BTW...thank you all for what you do here to help collectors. I am so impressed.

Your right Steve. I believe he is a newer collector who was taken for a ride. It sucks that it happens. Normally I would have blasted him but I think he was more naive than anything. I did try and take it easy on him. Hopefully he learned a good lesson. He seems to have high dollar tastes. You can never do enough research before jumping into the deep water where those type of signatures are found.

My suggestion would be to research all authenticators and reputation in each area first. Then research and study signatures second. If you're looking at a Morrison you will be seeking advice of someone totally different then if you were looking at a Ruth. No one source is the expert on everything.

A member told me that Bart bought it from Antquities in California; that would be San Francisco on Fisherman's Wharf. If that's the case, he is entitled to 10-times actual damages and legal fees. If he paid $1,000 for the album and spends $5,000 in legal fees, he's entitled to at least $60,000 dollars plus his $6,000 out of pocket. That's $66,000 for a $1,000 fraud.

Go for it!
