I am interested in submitting several autographs so the person I'm gifting them to doesn't have to worry about their resale down the road if he must.  A lot of you guys have helped me tremendously and I've done my own due diligence so I am certain they are real; if they were a part of my own collection I wouldn't bother getting them authenticated.  I don't own many TPA certed signatures to begin with.

Anyway, the items I want to submit are (I didn't include scans but if they are needed then I'll upload them) 1. Jorge Posada ball

2. Andy Pettitte ball

and possibly one item in my own collection just for insurance purposes which is a Harridge ball signed by 12; Mantle, DiMaggio, etc.  I glanced at the fee for this one, and it wont be cheap.

That being said, would you submit these to psa or jsa?  Does it matter which one for baseball autographs in particular?  I've submitted signed photographs to PSA and it wasn't a great experience due to the unable to render opinion grades but I'd give them a second chance if you guys recommend I send these to them.

I appreciate all the help

I'd say either is fine for baseball, but PSA has a (slightly) better reputation.

Either one is fine...you could also go a less expensive route with SGC.  They don't have the notoriety in autograph authentication like PSA and jSA do, just yet....but they are very well respected in card grading, and have recently started authenticating autographs.  I believe the 2 guys that head the authentication dept came from JSA.  They are running a special now for any basic cert - $8!   I think they will establish themselves as a viable 3rd player in the TPA world within a couple years.  I see many local auction houses and ebayers starting to use them, as they are more affordable.

Whichever route you decide to go, i would suggest looking to see if there are any memorabilia shows in your local vicinity, or check JSA & PSA's websites to see where they will be doing local appearances....this way you can get your stuff back in the same day, save on shipping & insurance costs, and the items won't get lost.

Thank you both!  I got an email promotion after I made this surprisingly and apparently Press Pass Collectibles is hosting PSA for authentication sessions and they are charging much lower prices/same week returns.  I'll definitely look into SGC though David!  I've seen a lot of high-end signed index cards from them and many here thought they were authentic so I think they should be good for baseball too.

I appreciate all the help
