Would be pretty hard to authenticate them I would think.

Read the article and its all over the news. Fox did a story on them as well.

The provenance is the main issue here.  They say the serial number is seen through an ex ray and can be traced back to him?

I did read the article. Just find it hard to believe Wyatt Earp took the time to record serial numbers or that these were recorded back in those days. I'd like to see some of the records that tie these to him. Would be cool to look at for sure. These are open for viewing before the sale right down the road from my office. I might go take a peek just for the sake of curiosity.

My skepticism is based on it being hard enough to find birth or death records from those days in the same county. Can't imagine we took better care to preserve gun sales or record serial numbers. Gun records in Arizona are hard to trace from those purchased over 20 years ago much less those sold in the late 1800's.
