Who is the best autograph to own that increases in value in hockey?

Would it be the great one? Gordie Howe? Bobby Hull?

Any opinions would be great, I know that hockey is not the most popular genre of collecting but I was wondering who would be "the one" to own.

And would a jersey or hockey stick be the item to owned signed by that person?

I don't see how it wouldn't be Wayne Gretzky. The thing with hockey players is everybody is generally very good when it comes to signing and the demand for such autographs isn't as large as basketball or baseball.

A stick is good to be signed if you want multiple greats on the same item. If you want just one premium item, then I think a nicely framed jersey would be the way to go.

If you are looking for autographs to invest in for hockey, I would get Gretzky, Orr, Lemeiux, Jagr, Roy etc etc. One HOFer of each team(if possible).

I'm only 20 so I don't know too much about hockey history, but what I do know is that I have been doing what I just suggested on hockey pucks.

Good luck :).
Howie Morenz autographs don't go for *insane* amounts of money, I'd say most desirable/valuable is Hobey Baker. I collect higher end hockey autographs and nearly all expensive ones are either Leafs or Habs old timers.
Well they sell for a lot I guess, but pieces go for less than 3,000 quite often. I think the recent Classic Auction had a Morenz autograph go for under $2000. Cheapest Hobey Baker I've seen was like $11,000.
Ok, maybe I phrased my initial statement poorly. Unique items such as a players contract or pucks (which were amazingly difficult to get signed back then) have tremendous value. The most common way you'll find hockey autographs of that time is on sheets of paper with other teammates and those prices are not as high as those compared to Baker.

For example, Maurice Richard's contract went for 7,000 I believe even though you can get photos and pucks signed by him for under $100.

Howie Morenz however is still my most desired autograph based on that "first NHL star" aspect.
As for the Michael Jordan/Babe Ruth comparison, it's definitely Gretzky.

Nobody like the great Gretzky. And Im partial to Wilt Chamberlain.

would the Kings Jersey be the one or the Rangers, oilers?

WHich team did he choose to go into the HOF with

Oilers for sure, carries the most value by far
