Need help with this STYX Album. I don´t remember the history. But looks strange with this "blue" paint marker.

Martin compare it to these signatures, these were signed IP for me

Hi Matthew - I already have some authentic STYX autographs - see following items from my collection. But I would like to know what you think about above Vinyl Album.

my opinion is that there are too many letters that look very similar in different names and could be drawn by the same hand,I don't like it....doesn't look like mine or your's at all

I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't posted mine yet

What you have is a Paradise Theater album released around 1981, with signatures from all 5 members: Dennis DeYoung, James Young, John Panazzo, Chuck Panazzo, and Tommy Shaw.

While Tommy was not an original member, this is the team that produced all the gold and platinum albums. The autographs, in my opinion, are all authentic. And I am sure of it. I worked for them in 1980, so I got a few autographed items for my personal collection.

The pictures that Matthew posted are signatures of the CURRENT Styx lineup.

I have the album that came out before Paradise Theater; Pieces of Eight, which was supported by "The Main Event" tour that I worked. It is believed to be worth around $1,000.  Albums with all 5 80's members are fairly rare as John died just before the release of "Edge of the Century" which saw Tommy going to Damn Yankees and being replaced by Glen Burtnick; a true shredder in my opinion.  When John was hospitalized in 1996, the fill in drummer was Todd Sucherman.  He was a killer drummer able to totally mimic John's style, eventually replacing it with his own. When John passed, Todd took the reigns he is still the drummer today.

If you're saying that these are older signatures, wouldn't the light blue Sharpie paint pen be a red flag?

No, I mean Martin's - the one originally posted.

OK, I'm an idiot!! There are only 4 signatures so the value is greatly decreased. After further examination, the only signature that I am convinced is real is JY's. Chucks is really weird, but that could be that he signed it when the cancer was gettng the better of him. Tommy's and Dennis's I just don't know, they are a fair amount different than mine.

What it kind of looks like is that this was signed by JY and Chuck, who are still in Styx, and someone tried to fake the other two.  The blue paint stick is on a lot of Styx albums. I assume it was used when they did mass signings. Mine is done in silver paint pen.

Sorry for the mis-information

I have asked Roger for quick opinion on my Paradise Theater. Its fake and I have destroyed / thrashed it already....

The honorable thing to do. Thank you for not trying to pass it on.
