Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not.  I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples.   These TTM signatures are not cheap.  You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box.  The question is are they real or not.  Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.

Please post your thoughts here and examples.

thanks

Mark

Can you think of any other common scenario where Judith would need to endorse a check made out to her husband after he signed it?

Yes, if the check was made out to him, but she deposited it into an account with only her name on it.

I'm gone until morning, so I'll leave you to discuss things until then.

Steve Jackson, thanks for posting the image of your signed photo again.

Ballroom, look at the other check with both of their signatures on it. JLL's signed small on that one, too. As it is on one of the checks with only his name on it. And compare the entire signatures, not just the e's. Keep in mind that JLL's people probably studied and practiced his signature pretty carefully if they were signing secretarials, so they could have seen the e's just like you have.

And look how much slower his signature is signed on the checks, compared to the autographs we all accept as authentic the checks paid for.

I think I'm right. Maybe I'm wrong. But let's all look at these with fresh eyes.

I don’t understand, Steve. You correctly concluded that “Sincerely” from Dave Miller’s signed LP was written by JLL. It is entirely consistent with “Sincerely” from the “By Request” LP, which Roger believed contained a secreterial signature. The signature on the “By Request” LP is obviously in the same hand as the inscription. Roger has stated that the other claimed secretarials are consistent with the signature on the “By Request” LP. This of course would point to all of these signatures as being authentic.

Ballroom,

I'm on a project, so I'll get back to you here later today or this evening. I need to look at what you asked me about, and I need to assemble images.

Steve,
What I meant by the "getting off track" comment was we were picking apart the minutiae of banking practices. For myself, I never used any of the check endorsements as guaranteed authentic exemplars in my study of the JLL autograph. Since the start they have been questioned and questionable.

Here are four examples of "Sincerely", I believe from oldest to most recent.

Notice the connection from the "S" to the "I", somewhat of a connection from the "N" to the "C" and the formation of the "R".

According to the seller of this photo, it was obtained in person in 2002. It retains the two connections.

Next is Dave's TTM signature from earlier this year. The two connections are no longer there, but the formation of the "R" remains intact.

Another TTM from right around the same time.

Steve,

Could you please post the JLL autograph you got when you sent that check in? Sorry, I know you posted it before, but there are so many in this discussion I want to make sure the right one is posted to compare. Thanks

This would be it the to steve and sincerely with the different style S. I believe roger said this one was authentic and it came around when everyone started to get the sloppier signatures back. If it helps my bank is going to be sending me my original check and I can post some clearer pics of the signatures on it as well as confirm if the jerry lee was signed first or squeezed ontop once it arrives

I don't see how the check endorsement could possibly be a proxy signature. Someone used two different styles of "E" in an attempt to mimic JLL's signing habits, and then his wife signed in order to show the bank that it was a proxy signature? It doesn't make sense.

For anyone comparing them here is 3 of the cheques 2 that have jerry and Judith. I will have mine in hand soon to confirm if the jll sig was signed first or squeezed in ontop

A couple additional samples deemed authentic by a credible source. I think they each have qualities valuable to the discussion including the underlined signature and "Sincerely" inscription. I included the third to show JLL has had better spacing to his signature at least a long time ago.

Do you think it would be appropriate for me to write Judith and request a "free" autograph since the marker didn't work so great for my $50 autograph (that you can see on page 32 of this thread)? I'd include a close-up photo of the bad ink part of the graph so she could see for herself.
