Hi, I recently got this from an estate. What do you guys think? It seems like the real deal, It's on a 8x10 I'm planing on getting this authenticated to display in my collection. Hoping you guys can give me an opinion on it. I hope it is as I love Marilyn <3 Been collecting her vintage stuff for years. Also any good recommendations on places for authenticity? Thanks P.S. Love the Blog :)

I am certainly not an authority on Marilyn signatures, but this one looks different to me from some of the authentic ones I've seen before.
Did the estate sale have any historical info on this picture? I've got a Marilyn signed pic myself which I've been trying to find out the history on :)

It is not authentic. Likely a secretarial inscribed and autographed item.

Its a very lovely secretarial signing. Its authentic in its own way, as being sent probably from 20th Fox to a fan in response to a request. Certainly signed in her lifetime. Anything after August 1962 is a forgery, not a secretarial. They had teams of ladies signing on her behalf at Fox. This is a hand I have rarely seen before though. But as you can see, a well practiced hand, so whoever did, did it regularly, signing for Marilyn with quite a flourish. Professional.

Not a good deal if you indeed are the buyer

I feel sorry  since it seems to have been sold for pretty good amount of Money .

Obviously the buyer is under the impression its Marilyn's own hand but the way the advert is worded doesn't actually say it is her hand, but not does it make a point of saying it is a secretarial, which it clearly is.

Can anyone do anything about this on Ebay? People are thick, you can put secretarial all over a sale on there and they will still read somehow that its the real thing. Wishful thinking can take over.

A secretarial is worth between $200-$1000 at most I would say, depending on the photo? hard to place a value, there are some at auction houses not quite admitting they are secretarials for $2 and $3k
