My theory was Rick, if I could swing that trade, I'd be able to cut my Musial "U" in half and then send them to be slabbed by PSA as two authentic Mantle "L's" Two for the price of one!

These "cut auto" cards almost always piss me off, I have seen plenty of legends including Thurman Munson "cut autos" where they have literally cut off part of the name... I do not like these cards at all. The funny thing, is the super serious card collectors LOVE these...

I saw a Mantle "cut auto" that a guy wanted 2k for. The cut was simply an 8x10 colored photo autograph that the auto was cut from. You could get the full 8x10 with PSA/DNA LOA for probably $200, but instead these card nerds wanted a destroyed photo autograph shoved in a little card for 2k! AMAZING.

Exactly I saw a beautiful babe Ruth full photo with a paragraph inscription that sold on Ebay few years ago. It was bought by a card company and butchered to fit a standard trading card, clipping off half of the "B" in Babe and "h" in Ruth. Made me want to throw up when I saw what they did!

$1,750 for this Mantle when you can buy a snow white Upper Deck FULL BALL for $450 all day.

This is similar to what I was referring to earlier, someone paid $1,300 for this. Like seriously why in the hell would you want this? It's not even pretty to display... I get it, it's a 1/1 but still. I would much rather have the full 8x10 signed and displayed in a nice frame!

Disgusting what these card companies do cutting up autos like that and Ruth jerseys. How many jerseys did Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb ect wear back then? One jersey each for home and away maybe. That tells you how rare they are and we all know many did not survive. The ones that do, get cut up into micro pieces. You can't even read what HOF year this is.
