These are the autographs that Mark Roberts got back recently. They have quite a bit of variation. I will point out two things: 1. Almost no variation in the examples we have seen in the "pre-signed books". 2. Not ONE of these autographs look ANYTHING like the "pre-signed" books. This speaks volume to me. Thoughts?

Have you seen some of his older signatures? He has been a fairly inconsistent signer for quite some time. That doesn't mean that he isn't capable of a more consistent signature for a set of books that are being sold by a retailer as a limited edition.

Again, what probably occurred is that he signed the individual pages, which were then bound into the books by the publisher.

If you want to see something interesting, compare the "K" in "Mark" from one of the images that you posted to the "K" in "Thanks" from the "Whitten" pick guards.

Ballroom,

I have seen older autographs from Jerry Lee, but I have yet to see one that I think is anything like the "pre-signed" books. You alk about the great variation in his signature, but there is almost variation at all in any of the "pre-signed" book examples that we have seen. Yes, there are subtle differences, but no true variations. Look at the "pre-signed" books and look at the book Mark Roberts got back. They are night and day.

Check back on page 36 of this discussion. I feel that the two examples that I posted are quite similar in appearance, particularly in the formation of the last name.

I had forgotten about these, and I do admit there are some similarities. However, there are some differences as well. The y in Jerry is completely different than the 'pre-signed" books and the loops in the Ls are deifnintely more pronounced than in the "pre-signed" books. Also notice the second L in the book example looks like a 7 while the second L in the photo example does not. Lastly, in the R&R photo, notice the I is dotted at the end of Lewis while in the book it is more of a dash and in the middle.

It spoke volumes to everyone besides Ballroom about 20 pages ago as well...

Mark, The differences you've mentioned are consistent with authentic JLL signatures. Anyone who, unlike Ryan, has put some effort into this issue will recognize that.

Just FYI....JLL just hit the top spot on Yahoo Trending with this:

http://fox6now.com/2015/01/25/rocker-jerry-lee-lewiss-harley-davids...

So in autograph terms, his motorcycle is worth 3,850 through the mail (presumably authentic) signatures.

Funny comment Sidney. Good for the Killer!

It is certainly not consistent with any IPs that I personally have gotten. Nor with a vast majority of ones seen through this thread and the signature study thread. I have yet to see one deemed authentic where the L looks like a 7 like in the "pre-signed" books. What exactly is the provenance of this? I know you said it was from R and R, but who examined it and approved it etc..? It is still a very atypical signature. I certainly have the utmost respect for you and your vast knowledge, Ballroom, I'm just not sure I will ever completely agree with you. Time will tell, especially as more evidence comes to light.

I appreciate the kind words, but I wouldn’t say that I have vast amount of knowledge. I’ve certainly learned a lot along the way, and I’ve made a few mistakes as well. I’ve given my honest opinion based upon information that has been presented on both sites along with my own research.

The signature that you’re asking about included a COA from Roger. It’s item 735 from catalog 337 (Sep 2008). The “Great Balls of Fire” signature that I previously posted, which Roger also said is authentic, contains a good example of an “L” (in “Lewis”) shaped like a “7”, but there are others. I too believe that more good evidence will appear over time.
