Mantle, DiMaggio Forgeries on eBay, GFA/Stephen Rocchi Certified John Gorajczyk

Here in this thread I am going to show various examples of Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio forgeries listed and sold on Ebay with COAs from Steve Rocchi, lead "authenticator" for Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (GFA).

What is really sad, is that thousands of our military personnel got ripped off buying this garbage from the AAFES website. I bet a ton of them got them at cheap prices and looked at them as an investment. This crap is pure garbage.

Please note that in the 5 1/2 years since GFA started, I have yet to see even one authentic Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Sandy Koufax, etc. autograph with a GFA (Rocchi) COA.

It is now 2021 and we have yet to observe an authentic autograph attached to a GFA (Rocchi) COA.

Before I show the aforementioned, immediately below are links to two important threads on Stephen Rocchi and Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (GFA).

There have also been a ton of Mantle/Koufax forgeries on baseballs.

All laughable.

In my opinion, forgeries are at an all-time high on Ebay.

The main reason that forgeries are at an all-time high is because they are an easy sell, especially on Ebay.

As most of us here know, forgeries are meant to have the appearance of looking authentic, and of the people that purchase autographs, only 20% are the true hobby; the other 80% are fans, wannabe autograph collectors and impulse buyers.

Sellers of forgeries know that the 80% will bid and purchase their forgeries.

Those 80% who purchase forgeries, have no idea what they are looking at.

As a matter of fact, those same people who buy forgeries probably purchase authentic autographs by chance and they still have no idea what they are looking at.

Selling forgeries on Ebay is easy, because, as we all know, Ebay does not care, and that's why fraud is so rampant on Ebay.

Throw in a few lies, print an impressive COA and it's an easy sell for the sellers of forgeries.

In this case, the "impressive" COA is from Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (Steve Rocchi).

The people who buy forgeries with COAs from Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators are impressed and swayed by the "Forensic" aspect of the GFA COA.

Those 80% who purchase autographs/forgeries, have no idea what they are looking at.

Selling forgeries on Ebay is easy, because as we all know, Ebay does not care, and that's why fraud is so rampant on Ebay.

First we're going to look at numerous Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio forgeries listed and sold by Ebay seller Coinfinder58.

Ebay seller Coinfinder58 writes "As of September of 2011, the sports memorabilia authentication companies have used collectors and dealers as their authenticators. These authenticators highly respected in the industry have for their collecting and selling expertise have had little or no formal training in forensics and document examination. Now that's laughable and a bad freakin' joke!!!

Just like the "autographs" below; all are laughable.

Let's look at some examples of Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio forgeries on various images listed/sold by Ebay seller Coinfinder58 and other Ebay sellers with COAs from Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (GFA).

Let's make one thing clear: These are obvious and no-brainer forgeries.

Look at all of this crap!!!

It's now 2021 and I still have not observed one authentic Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio, Koufax, etc, with a worthless COA from GFA.

The majority of this crap (the photos) are not even hand-signed. They are basically copies produced on inkjet paper.

This "lipstick on a pig" set of forgeries is basically a copy of forgeries produced (copied) on inkjet paper.

Saw two full boxes of these. Was offered as many as I wanted. Walked out with zero. Should have took a few of them. Would have been a few less forgeries in the hobby.

I emailed Chuck Singer, the owner of Photo File on Monday and we spoke later that day. According to Ken Goldin, Photo File printed all of Scoreboard's photos. I asked him if they used inkjet printing and what brands of paper they used for Scoreboard's photos, and this is what he said in an email:

"When Scoreboard was in business we never used inkjet printing. Today we only use it for a few odd sizes. I would have to check but I think we used both Agfa and Kodak paper. For a period of time we backprinted our photos with a copywrite statement. Did any of these have our logo or the MLB, NFL or other logos on the front? They should have if they were ours. But all this is secondary if they were printed on an inkjet, as that automatically disqualifies them."

All the signed photos everyone I know got from Always at Auction were inkjet printed. And none of them had MLB's or Photo File's logo on the front.

How could yours be from Scoreboard?

Who ever said My Favorite Players had to use Photo File for our pictures. As Chuck Singer well knows we were an MLB licensee and could manufacture or have manufactured all of the components of our product, including photos. I have a whole file that was going to be used in the SCOREBOARD case on just this subject. Maybe we should invite Chuck to our meeting so when I open this file in our video the world can see. There are plenty of photos that have their Logo on the front that are 1st gen. that are not printed on either Kodak or Agfa paper and also do not contain any copywrite statement on the back. Also who ever said I do not have there purported photos, signed by Mantle, in my inventory. This is going to be a very informative meeting. Also remind Chuck that Photo File was so busy, back in the day, they did not print all their photos in house, they would sub work out, AKA Russell, plus. AlwaysatAuction.com said that all the signed photos of Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio and related players they sold originally came from Scoreboard. Now you're saying that you printed them. So you are saying that AlwaysatAuction.com is not telling the truth?

PhotoFile may have contracted out some printing because they were so busy, I don't know, but it wouldn't have been inkjet. As Chuck said on the phone, inkjet costs 10 times as much as regular photo printing, and takes many times longer to print. He made clear that they did not use it, period, back when Scoreboard was around, which was until about 1998?

So how could Mantle have possibly signed inkjet photos for Scoreboard when he died in 1995?

Why do you run away and hide when someone asks hard questions? Why won't you discuss what really matters: facts that would help potential buyers decide whether the autographs are likely fake or real?

I find this whole discussion quite amusing since watching this entire discussion unfold. Mr. Podsada is unrelenting maybe because he has watched other "heroic efforts" by the masked avengers of stopping forgers fail in misery. How did that whole Bergen County, NJ mess work out for you guys? Oh yeah, Drew Max was laughing his A$$ off while counting his money and the Prosecutor just ignored the whole thing and said CASE CLOSED I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN.

How on earth do you think you will EVER clean up the mess of these Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio etc etc etc that now totally out number the REAL items these guys signed! Good luck to you super heros. Go Get'em Guys! (Oh yeah you have been and nothing has happened)

On the contrary, the prosecutor offered refunds to anyone who wanted one and major refunds were made.

What do you think we should do? Should we just let people continue to get defrauded with forgeries and not say anything?
