Another Fake Being Misrepresented with a Steiner Cert.
This cancer is really growing quickly. Now Probstein123, and ebay power seller is listing a horrible forgery of a McGwire/Sosa signed ball with a fake Steiner cert. And because it is a powerseller with a very high feedback rating, and because the Steiner name, at least for now, is still equated with authenticity, this piece of garbage is actually attracting interest.

Even a novice collector can tell the difference. Numerous attempts have been made to alert Steiner to this rapidly growing forgery issue. We can only hope that behind the scenes, they are trying to do something about it.

I highly doubt that the seller was directly responsible for the fake cert. Likely that somebody decided to capitalize on the Steiner name to peddle their junk. Looks like it is working so far.

Having studied Sosa and Mac signatures for over 15 years, I would say that this is one of the worst forgeries I have seen. It is truly pathetic.

I don't know Sosa's sig that well, but I'm pretty good with Mac and his variations over time. And I agree. That Mac is pretty ugly, and it seems to me I've seen that forgery style before.

The 80's Big Mac sigs were a certain way but in the 90's it became pretty standard. Not sure what a 2015 auto looks like. But if anyone has one..I'd like to see it!

By far the worst I've seen! Saaaaaaaaamy just goes on and on! What the heck? I've got game used bats and stacks of photos as like I said below my dad knew his driver..which was a friend of his both my dad and Sammy's first! I've got an odd ball 98 WS hat signed by him with the inscription of #66 for homers plus jersey #.

Those are by far the worst fakes I've ever seen of either player. Probstein is a knob. Very unprofessional but thought he was just doing cards not stuff like this..guess I was wrong. Have you made a complaint & is their a need for others to as I am willing to help get that off from ending up in someone's collection! My dad knew Sammy's driver when he'd come to town and nothing ever looked like that...and McGwire is or has been fairly standard since the 80's. but that's not even close! I really hate that these huge sellers get away with what they do because they make eBay so much money! I had to make complaints of smaller people taking stuff down and selling it on another site cause they knew I wanted it and didnt wanna pay eBay fees but blocked me because I'd tell them I'm interested in this this and that but then they'd ask me how to price it and I said I'm not your price guide. I'm trying to buy it not get screwed by you listing it. Lets just say the guy lost his azz on items because I would have paid more and after fees it's like your screwing yourself! I know I can be a knob myself but I'm honest and real and working on something that may be impossible to finish but hopefully I will get it finished one day!

Let's be honest here, though.
This seller is a consignment seller. They don't care what it is or where it comes from--if they can make money off it, they'll take it & sell it.They don't even put item descriptions on their stuff.
Anyone dumb enough to buy from them deserves to get ripped off.
