There were many movie and television stars that appeared as guest stars (though never called that on the show) on TAGS. Hopefully others will add their autographs of stars like Buddy Ebsen, Charlie Ruggles, Edgar Buchanan, Everett Sloane, Alan Hale, Jr.,Bob Denver, John Dehner and many others who appeared as "guest stars" on an episode of TAGS. Elsewhere I think in the comment section I have my Jack Nicholson autograph. I am not including him here because he was in two episodes.
Julie Adams is one of those stars she appeared in a very popular episode "The County Nurse." I have had the pleasure of meeting her various times and she is one of the nicest stars I have encountered. She spoke very highly of Andy Griffith and how much she enjoyed working with him. She would go on to play Jimmy Stewart's wife in The Jimmy Stewart Show. She also appeared in a reoccurring role as the man-crazy real estate agent on Angela Lansbury's Murder She Wrote. Horror fans remember best as Kay Lawrence in the Universal Productions Creature From the Black Lagoon. This photograph is one I got from Miss Adams at her first Monster Bash Conference in Pittsburgh a few years ago.
Roger Perry appeared a movie that scared the daylights out of me when I saw it at the local movie theater in 1971 with friends. The movie was the sequel to Count Yorga Vampire starring Robert Quarry and was titled The Return of Count Yorga. Roger Perry was excellent in both movies. Surprisingly (to me anyway) he was married to Jo Ann Worley. He was in one episode each of Star Trek and The Munsters. He was in scores of movies and television shows. Perry guest starred in the TAGS episode titled "Don't Miss a Good Bet." Below is his autograph above his picture with "Goober" and "Floyd."
Casey Adams (1917-2000) was in scores of television shows he also worked under his real name Max Showalter. He was the original Ward Clever in the pilot of Leave it to Beaver. He was in the 1961 TAGS episode "The Horse Trader as Ralph Mason the man who wants to buy Mayberry's canon. This is a signature from his fan club card:
Leon Ames (1902–1993) appeared in tons of television shows and movies in his long career. He was on such shows as Bewitched, The Lucy Show, and the Jeffersons. Among his movies are Charlie Chan on Broadway, Mysterious Mr. Moto, Mr. Moto in Danger Island, The Thin Man Goes Home, Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, and Tora, Tora, Tora. He was in the TAGS episode "The Senior Play" in 1966 as Mayberry High Principal Mr. Hampton. This is a vintage album page from Classic Entertainment Autographs:
The yellow vintage album page is one I bought from Classic Entertainment Autographs. It is also the first shown (1939) exemplar on Dr. Brucato and Tom Kramer's great Classic Entertainment Autograph Database (CEAD). He sometimes uses a capital
"A" often found in later examples of his. The green example is from 1970 and one I bought from jgautographs.
Enid Markey (1894-1981) was a film star of the silent era of movie making. She was the very first "Jane" in a Tarzan movie! She appeared in the Adventures of Tarzan and the sequel The Romance of Tarzan both from 1918. She appeared in The Naked City in 1948 and The Boston Strangler in 1968. Her most famous television role was as Barney Fife's landlady, Mrs. Mendlebright, in "Up in Barney's Room" in 1963. She appeared as "Grandma Pyle" in the Jim Nabor's show Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. She also appeared in Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and several theater-type television shows like Playhouse 90. Her autograph is scarce this one is from a 1942 light pink album page in fountain pen acquired from Classic Entertainment Autographs.
Scott, great autograph!
