Hi everyone... I must say that this site is fantastic and just what autograph collector need.
The forum section is also fantastic... in particular, the "Authenticity Opinions", however, people must understand that when autographs are uploaded for Real or Fake... these are only those people's opinions and sometimes their opinions may be wrong.
I urge people to please make sure that when making judgement on autographs... please be absolutely 100% certain, as making rash judgements can cause distress to genuine collectors and destroy genuine autographs.
Thank you

Hi Mike... Not a problem... I am realising that people like yourself, terrier8HOF and Robin are very good people to have around and your opinions are well versed when asked for genuinely.

Like I said to Robin... Thank you for all your support and expertise... and when I genuinely want opinions on autographs, I know where to come.

Thanks

There are a few ways to ensure autograph authenticity

1 - In Person

2 - From a reputable dealer

I've probably missed something ^^

I agree with you. However, the term "reputable dealer" is very cliche in this hobby. We all have bought from dealers at one point in time (unless everything we have is obtained in person) but forgers and novice collectors alike use the whole "obtained from a reputable source" bit to peddle their junk.

Just like in journalism, you need to be a good source of information and provide details if you want to prove the validity of something. Mention: who the dealer is, their website, ebay, etc. Otherwise, it isnt very convincing and not worth mentioning

Hi Mike

Hope you're well. That's why now I only buy from a very select few websites and always try and do a signture study before I commit myself. However, I have fallen victim to buy from websites that were deemed reputable that have been brought into question and I have been burnt a few times too, but I have had much more success with genuine autographs than forgeries, thankfully.

Sadly, its something that mostly everyone will experience in this hobby.
