Who's going to dip into their bank account for this beauty?  I thought about it, but it's already up over $7k with a week left, I think it will go far beyond $10k.

The bass itself is an anniversary edition of the 1962 bass he played on the Ed Sullivan show, they made a limited run of 64.  Of course, this one is signed.

I predict it will go for the $20,000 range, because of it's rarity and is part of a charity auction.

Charity Auctions (real ones) are not the place for bargains as some items go for WAY more than they are worth. Tax write offs for rich folks are part of the reason. 

This is true but this kind of falls into that one of a kind item category, it's not every day you have a chance to buy a hoffner bass signed prominently and boldly by McCartney, charity auction or otherwise.
It's worth in the teens, easily. Wow!
