Hi everyone!

Would appreciate your help on these two Harrison Ford signatures. Do you think they are genuine and if so, what would be a fair price to pay?

Thanks for helping!

Funny, my Ford is almost identical.

Sorry guys but none of these are from the hand of Harrison Ford.

Rich, your shot and the shot that opens this discussion are pretty common 1990's forgeries. They have been around for a long time, and many top dealers were fooled by them thru the years.

Yeah, as soon as I saw Jan's, I thought that might be the smoking gun. Got it from Autograph World in 2000.

This is a grouping of real 80's and 90's Fiords, and what the forger was trying to copy.

Ugh. Glad you spoke up (and that Jan posted that one for comparison). Had it for years, and no one ever seemed to consider it fake/questionable. Figured I scored a deal.  Anyone, that's one more to eliminate from my more naive days.

The two I posted are on sale at Marcus Brandes Autographs and are said to been obtained in-person at different locations in Germany.

Hopefully you can get your money back Rich, Autograph World seems to be great when it comes to things like this.

And of course, thank you once again Pete for your help. You're a great asset for this site!!

Strange - I wonder what Markus has to say about his.

I know the autograph hunter P.G. for a very long time who I met several times personally and he was a quite popular In-Person hunter in the 80s and 90s in the Cologne area. He mentioned to me that he obtained those autographs personally at the mentioned events. Both autographs had been put out of sale until I get further and exact provenance details.

Dear Pete. I talked today to the autograph hunter who obtained the first Harrison Ford autograph. He promised me that he obtained this autograph at a press conference at the Hyatt Hotel in Cologne while Harrison Ford slept in the hotel Wasserturm. He was there as journalist and photographer during the interview. As he did not remember the exact date I am certain that it must have been October 1997. Unfortunately there exist not a particular candid photograph of this event but I would be glad to find out more about this case as I agree with you that the signature is very similar to reference example. However as I know this hunter for many years I hardly can believe that he offered me a questionable and not auithentic autograph. Please find enclose a few candid photos of the hunter who was quite known in the 80s and 90s for autograph huntings in this are.

Markus, I have the utmost respect for you and your business standards, I have sent a number of collectors in Europe your name and told them that they can count on your material. I don't know this collector, but I spent most of my time collecting in NYC. I wish I had my computer files from that time frame, if I did I could show you numerous files (almost always on Indy photos, because at that time Harrison was skipping over all Star Wars images in a crowd.) These were coming out of New Jersey at that time. The closest we came to outting the seller was that he was a customer of the guy known as Autographczar.

Tall H with the tops of both sides of the H even, A almost 2.5 to 3 times the height of the next letters. The bubbled base of the F crushed flat and the cross bar shooting upwards with no flow to the start of the ORD which starts way to low.

I have watched Harrison sign 20 autographs in a row and no two are alike. This guy in Jersey put the same exact graph on everything he sold.

I certainly don't want to push my opinions on anyone, and I understand having faith in people that you may have worked with for a long time. All I can do is show you what I do know, and let you decide for yourself.

Dear Pete. First of all I like to thank you for your knowledge and reference based reply. I agree with you that with your argument the autographs are at least questionable which is enough for me that I do not offer both autographs anymore. You can be sure that I will do everything from my site to research this possible wrong provenance. Of course I am familar with Autographczar as well as further so called US In-Person collectors who lately become more interested in a candid photo intead of the autograph.... Again thank you for pointing me out of a questionable item and sharing your knowledge with the autograph community.

You're a stand-up guy Markus! You got my deepest respect as a dealer!
