Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Another from Simon Parr auctions 17 Feb 16

Lot 57 Elvis style profile £100 start

http://www.invaluable.co.uk/auction-lot/michael-jackson-1950-s-afri...

And another from 'mymemorabilliastore' on ebay usa

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Michael-Jackson-Autograph-Signed-Note-Paper...

$100 start, with the following description:

A 5x8 piece of note pad paper used personally by the king of pop. Michael in black marker sketched a picture of a face along with the writing which reads "Michael Jackson, Love, 1998".

And on the back side of the paper in very faint pen was what looks to be reminders of a recording session date at a studio which he dated "9/3/98", and a phone number of a worker for MJJ Productions. Along with another small portrait of him with a fedora with writing above that reads " love Michael Jackson"

(It seems that this seller believes that Michael 'wrote' Love MJ even when he was noting down phone numbers!!!)

And for those on a limited budget, a copy (of a fake) on a glittery card (this one from the UK):

You know how to find em don't ya!   Copies of forgeries nice.  I just hope nobody ever gets tattooed in that signature style because that would really suck.

I was going to add this to the previous comment but will do this all in one.... check this out on mymemorabiliastore... the first 3 are absolutely known for selling forgeries, the 4th one is a "card" dealer, and the last one makes MJ replica clothing.

I notice that Simon Parr is listing 5 'original' sketches of Peanuts characters, 'signed' by Schulz and 7 Michael Jackson signed drawings.  This is for their 17 Feb 2016 auction.

A major auction house like Christies in London or HA in Dallas might have one or two of these occasionally but never 5 or 7 at once (especially having already listed a dozen or so within the past 6 months, like Simon Parr).  So what is going on there?

Parr also listed at least two 'original' drawings ' signed' by Walt Disney within the past few months.  These are EXTREMELY rare, so how come he can turn up two of them?

Just to add some cyanide blue icing to an already poisonous cake, what is the link between Simon Parr and that arch conman, the fake autograph supremo, Jason Cullen aka rareandsignedcom, aka cheviotsbooks, aka the bargain king?  Are they quietly in business together?

I look forward to words of wisdom.

I'm just glad that most potential buyers are not 'taken in' by these forgeries.  For professional artists, their work 'is' a form of signature, and thankfully the ten year old who apparently produces fakes for Simon Parr auctions has no artistic skill whatsoever (I'm guessing the forger's age from their drawing ability).  As amply demonstrated by this Simon Parr 'Disney' Bambi vs the real thing.   If you haven't got the skill, no amount of 'tracing' will produce a good result. Not to mention the fact that it's criminal deception to offer for sale fake goods as the real thing.

More from Simon Parr:

Snow white and the seven drawfs (sic) Lot 80, 27th Mar 16 $2400 start

http://www.invaluable.co.uk/auction-lot/michael-jackson:-snow-white...

A drawing of Snow white and the seven drawfs in crayon, signed by Michael Jackson in purple sharpie with the date 1998 added. MJ typically did this for things signed in the late 80's. We cannot date this piece though. 12x18 inches. Condition Report: Very good. Provenance: Supplied with coa.

Another 'copy drawing'  from romartenuova of Rome, this time Pooh Bear

(other copies are on the Erick thread):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIQUE-Michael-Jackson-Drawing-mixed-media-...

and Donald Duck from $42

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIQUE-Michael-Jackson-Drawing-mixed-media-...

and Mickey Mouse from $42

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIQUE-Michael-Jackson-Drawing-mixed-media-...

Simon Parr auctions 30 April 2016, an 'MJ' drawing of Martin Luther King, £100 start.

(Can't see the likeness myself).  This is a curious presentation; the description says the photo is 8 x 6 ins and the drawing is 16 x 11 ins.  Doesn't appear that way in the illustration.

I wonder on which planet anyone who knew anything about Michael would seriously think that he would sign rubbish like this?  Not this one, I think.

Another offering from Simon Parr: Lot 35 on 25th March 16

Diana Ross and the Supremes, at £1000 start.

Strange how this auctioneer can offer 'MJ drawings' that are clearly drawn (and signed!) by completely different people, and never notice it himself.

I think it is time that UK Trading Standards took a look at Simon Parr's activities.  This is fraud, pure and simple!
