As far as autograph collecting and music fan experiences goes, I find the range of stories I hear about various meet & greets to be pretty fascinating. I've heard of people paying modest fees (or nothing) for wonderful, fun experiences - and other stories of fans shelling out large amounts of money for a massive disappointment. And, of course, everything in between.

I thought we should have a comprehensive thread on the topic.  Have you been to a pre-show or post-show meet and greet or know someone who has? Was it a bargain or a ripoff? What was the mood - structured and hurried or casual and fun?

My favorite band does meet and greets at every headline show they perform on this tour, chosen at fandom by fans who sign up for their fanclub and enter the show-specific drawing. There is no charge, and (usually) I don't believe a show ticket is even required. They were asked about this in an interview early this tour, and the response from one of the band members, Martin, was pretty passionate about musicians who charge high prices for meet & greets. FYI: I get that this band isn't quite a household name yet, so there might be a sentiment of "Who are they to say . . ."  However they have an interesting perspective as both successful musicians with Top 10 records and huge music fans themselves).

Here's that portion of the interview:

That would be...okay...if you meet Bad Company, too.

Ya know what? I'm a huge, huge, huge Walsh fan (see photo for proof). But...since Walsh was always such a great autograph signer, this deal just isn't very good. If you met Bad Company AND Joe Walsh, that would work. For this deal...just to meet Joe...say it ain't so, Joe. You can't charge this much!!!!!  (unless you can eat $100 dollars in apps and booze in the pre show party)

When everything is considered, taxes, fees etc.  It will be closer to $480 for Joe's meet and greet.  I would have considered it if Bad Co. would have been included too.  But no, they have their own Meet and Greet package that is also going to be around $480 bucks.

A friend of mine actually bought both packages!  (He's insane!)  So he has 2 tickets in the 4th row, passes for both Meet and Greets (I hope they aren't at the same time).  But he did say he would give me his other ticket to the show.  I can't see spending almost $1000 bucks for 2 meet and greets.  Hey, it's not my money!

Yeah, a lot of the meet and greets are hard to justify because the artists are good autograph signers. Garbage was offering some fairly expensive meet & greet packages on their anniversary tour, but that didn't stop them from continuing to be fan friendly outside of the shows. The Carly Rae Jepsen one I posted for $75 - she's a fantastic signer, known for frequently coming out to meet fans post-show.

Well, GNR full stadium tour announced, along with the VIP packages from VIP Nation.

No surprise here - no meet & greet.  https://vipnation.com/tours/guns-n-roses/not-in-this-lifetime/3f335...

That is about as crappy as it gets. Axl,wtf.
So if no band members will be in the on stage group photo, who will be in the group photo?
All the suckers who paid for the "Jungle Pit Experience."
Funny Steve.

Side note: GNR secret show in LA last night.
