As far as autograph collecting and music fan experiences goes, I find the range of stories I hear about various meet & greets to be pretty fascinating. I've heard of people paying modest fees (or nothing) for wonderful, fun experiences - and other stories of fans shelling out large amounts of money for a massive disappointment. And, of course, everything in between.

I thought we should have a comprehensive thread on the topic.  Have you been to a pre-show or post-show meet and greet or know someone who has? Was it a bargain or a ripoff? What was the mood - structured and hurried or casual and fun?

My favorite band does meet and greets at every headline show they perform on this tour, chosen at fandom by fans who sign up for their fanclub and enter the show-specific drawing. There is no charge, and (usually) I don't believe a show ticket is even required. They were asked about this in an interview early this tour, and the response from one of the band members, Martin, was pretty passionate about musicians who charge high prices for meet & greets. FYI: I get that this band isn't quite a household name yet, so there might be a sentiment of "Who are they to say . . ."  However they have an interesting perspective as both successful musicians with Top 10 records and huge music fans themselves).

Here's that portion of the interview:

I'll confess I noticed that Halsey is offering meet and greets - $200 for the package (excludes show ticket)

Hi Rich.

Are you going to the show for Halsey?

David

Still not sure - it's not very expensive, but I'm already going to Wolf Alice and Bastille concerts this week.

Brief video of the soundcheck/meet & greet for Broods last night. While standard tix were about $25, VIP meet & greet tickets were about $60. For the extra $35, we got a private two song soundcheck, first entry and a meet and greet, in which you could take multiple pics and get multiple items signed (in addition to the signed poster they gave you). Not a bad deal. Nicest people too.

Side note: Wizard World switched their "VIP only" thing for Michael J Fox as far as autographs go. You can now buy an autograph ticket for $200.

Mine was part of a whole package when I met him at LFCC just over a year ago.

Well, David Crosby is doing meet and greets now. These packages, I believe, are typically in the $550-600 range. Someone in RACC mentioned $565 for their venue.

I anticipate some interesting stories coming out of these meet and greets.

"Brief Hello" - I'm guessing the stories are going to be a bit limited.

Don't underestimate him.    What if some lunatic fan says "How are you?" instead of "Hello"?  It could all blow up right there.

I saw this and though I wouldn't do it ,I hope somebody out there goes so that we can get a full report on his meet and greet. Instead of brief hello it should be a photo op. He is listed as doing a book signing in N.Y. as well. I find it hard to believe this guy has changed his ways.
