Another possibility - GA is a very bad joke.

Hi,

Search "GAI" in the engine right at this site and you will see what I mean.

Sorry - my tone is directed at GAI, not you :) When was this purchased? Where? Perhaps you can get your $ back? What were the terms of sale and return policy?

Purchased on ebay in 2007 so no possible way of returning the card....Thank you....I know there were terrible but not all there gradings were bad....Thought they only got bad months before bankruptcy....

Just because it was authenticated by an authenticator that may not have a sterling reputation does not mean it is a fake.

GAI has a different reputation with sports card collectors than autograph collectors. The reputation isn't good. But they were not known, as far as I know, for authenticating fake sports cards. That said, I don't believe people put much faith in their grades. It's unlikely that the card is fake, but not 100% out of the question.

The 94 Score Rookie/Traded Rodriguez is considered a rare card for the era.

PSA 9/BGS 8.5 examples tend to go for $350 to $400.  There is a BGS 9.5 (Gem Mint) on eBay for $1,200 buy it now.

Nobody will consider a GAI Gem Mint the same as PSA or BGS. That not to say the card isn't perfect, it may be. If it were me, I would send it in to either PSA or BGS. They can remove it from the GAI holder and grade it and slab it. Given the value of the card, the cost of having it re-graded is minimal.

edited: link I put in originally was wrong

Just to clarify, my "third option" was nothing to do with suggesting the card was fake.

Nothing you said was wrong. However the difference between fake autographs and fake cards are substantial. It's takes little more than a sharpie and some forgers talent to make a reasonably convincing forged autograph to the untrained eye. Sports cards are harder. Especially post 1989. It requires accesss to modern printing technology. In this instance, the 1994 Score set would be tough to duplicate without a tremendous cost and effort. GAI may have been able to reasonably argue about an autograph being "authentic". But passing fake cards would be almost inpossble. A jeweled loup would be irrefutable proof. The printing technology for any given year/set is almost impossible to mimic.

Personally, I could identify a fake 86/87 Jordan rookie in seconds with a jeweled loup. Same with a Pete Rose rookie and countless other cards. Autographs are much much more difficult. Which is why I linger around here. I'm still learning.

Sing to the choir. You are addressing a point I did not make. No prob. e. I am learning too. ;) ALWAYS hope to be. Happy you posted this detailed information :)

THANK'S FOR THE INFORMATION....FROM THE SUGGESTIONS SEEM BEST FOR ME TO SEND INTO BGS FOR RE-GRADING....I ASSUME THEY ARE THE TOUGHER GRADER....THERE IS A CALL-UP 1994 ON EBAY FOR 2499.99 GRADED PSA10....
