Why? Other than simply the whimsical, exponentially optimistic plucking of an unrealistically ambitious number from out of the blue, am I missing something here?

another delusional ebay seller.  so someone else with a Mantle ball sees that and thinks their ball is worth 6500.  Ebay is full of overpriced "Buy It Now" items that sit for years, but fool people into artificially inflating an item's true value.

When for sale, what would a game used, maybe a game used foul ball MM hit, caught by a fan, then signed by Mantle, with a strong provenance go for? Couldn't one be bought for less than $6500? That's what I was looking for in the text of the listing when I saw the price tag. Maybe a game ball of some kind for that many ducats.

no idea what kind of provenance would prove without a doubt that Mantle hit a specific ball.....

but in this case, that is not a time period ball or signature.  Game used?  could be, but not in any game Mantle played in, unless it was an old timer's game.

At face value, right now, that ball is worth maybe 200-250 in the shape its in.

That's about the same value I thought it to be, "rare red stitches" and all.
