Hiya

Haven't been here for quite some time - I just wanted to ask a question or two about caring for autographs. I haven't bought one for some while, with the exception of a Robert Davi autograph I bought through Autographica, not so long ago.

At the moment, the autographs are kept in special pockets that were recommended and also in special folders which are kept on a shelf, standing up against each other, not stacked upon each other - I was told this was not a good idea.

Currently, I check my autographs once every month or so, maybe slightly less than this time wise. Is this OK? When I do check them, I check them in a dimly-lit environment, as to ensure there's not too much light. I have some autographs hung up but these are professionally framed.

Also, how long should autographs last when you store them in the special plastic sleeves as the sleeves are supposed to retain the hues for some while. I don't want to see my collection diminish, etc.

Furthermore, does there ever come a point where you should sell your autograph collection, or a part of it, if you are concerned that the quality of your autographs might go down or you notice that the quality has diminished slightly?

I don't want to part with my collection but I do see some of my photos as an investment as well as a hobby, so I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

My fave autograph is a Harrison Ford one I got through Official Pix about three years ago and still looks good now.

Thanks

Rob

Thanks for starting this discussion, I have some queries about this topic too.

Robin, what kind of special pockets and folders are you using? I have some signed 8x10s still in toploaders stacked on top of eachother in a pile. I'm sure that's NOT a good idea.
