Autographs are like stock- his fans are older, dying off. He's definitely fallen...I've seen some on ebay go way below what he used to sell for.

I own an 11x14 photo that I paid around $800 for back in 1998. It was from an in person collector and also had an LOA from Jan Schray. The photo is from One Eyed Jacks , I believe.

I think the economy hurts. I also think the people who care about Marlon Brando are older or dead.
My photo should be worth a few thousand, I'll bet I couldnt get anywhere near that. He was a tough, tough autograph.
I could be wrong but I've seen his stuff go cheap lately.

I think this item sold inside the realm of what authentic Marlon Brando signatures sell for, but I don't agree that they've necessarily gone down in value either. This is about where they've been. I fundamentally disgaree with your point about Mr. Brando's fans being older or having already passed away in the context of his signature being worth less now. Those older fans are the people who have disposable income to splurge on an autograph.
Twenty-somethings aren't plunking down thousands of dollars on autographs. They're buying modern sports, modern movies and current music signatures. The sub-$300 autographs. All the vintage stuff--the important presidential autographs, the music stuff (Elvis, The Beates, The Rolling Stones, etc.), the vintage sports signatures (Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, etc.) and the classic film autographs (signed pictures of Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marlon Brando, etc.), are being bought up by people in their forties, fifties, and older. The over $1000 autographs. If it's a scarce autograph like Brando because he didn't sign much or Elvis because he died thirty-seven years ago, it almost doesn't matter as much that more of their fans are dying than are being created by way of new fans. Those ardent, old fans are the ones actually making the purchases. Obviously, this dynamic will change as those generations really do start to disappear. It is hard to predict where the vintage autograph market goes from there. Sports and presidential autographs will have the upper hand on the other two categories.

Value of Brando items haven´t fallen, atleast not that much.
I´ve seen other ebay sites like the frecnh and UK where his signature has sold for only 150-250usd authentic ones. Maybe becoz is his penmanship wasn´t the nicest just a scribble.
Indeed he was very tough to get...having that in mind and the fact that he´s considered by many the greatest actor of all time his autograph is undervalued, very undervalued .
And then we have authentic autographs his listed as "buy it now " & "buy it now/best offer" of which are priced in the 1000-2000usd...they´ve been there for ages and with few offers.

I saw a Streetcar Playbill about twenty years ago signed by the whole cast go for for two thousand dollars.
Saw one on ebay go for about $400 a year or so.
The prices are down.
