Check out the autographed Denny McClain painting can and obscene Mickey Mantle inscription in my latest Forbes post. I understand there's a market for the Mantle profanity, but a limited one.

Love it, my 2 favorites are signed baseballs inscribed: "F*** Yogi" and another that says "Have a ball c**ksucker" LOL.

I hadn't heard about the one "Have a ball c..." That's terrific.

But I remember one, "Hey, Joe! I **cked, Marilyn!"

You weren't kidding, Ryan.

Here's another funny one I just found:

The book I mentioned in my blog was sold for $1600.

So I guess people collect these and are willing to pay a premium for them.

The one I remember most was the first time I'd ever seen one of these Mantle inscription's. It surprised me and was signed on the inside of his book. From what I was told from the vendor selling it, Mantle was doing a public book signing. When he was done, Mantle had it in his contract to stay and sign so many in the back in bulk for few dealers. One of them was there with his wife, who had a great body & very sexy. Mantle didn't care for he and the wife complaining about him for taking too long autographing the books while talking with his agent. So when signing the last book in his stack, he wrote "My d*ck is bigger than yours. Just ask your c*cksucking wife, Mickey Mantle" It wasn't til after he died and they were selling the books, it was found. I also heard of another baseball with a reference to Monroe and a bJ. If you want to see someone with some real wacky inscriptions, look to Pete Rose.

Pete Rose doesn't surprise me.

That's an interesting story, suggesting that Mickey was sometimes sober when wrote those.

It took me back for a second cause I never seen something like that, but over the years saw many Mantle items with inscriptions like that. I met him a couple times and he seemed nice for the few seconds. Never really got to talk with him and hear any good baseballs stories. Yes, Rose will pretty much sign anything you want with the inscription fee he charges. I've seen some crazy ones!

These do for go for a premium as they are very rare inscriptions... Even a simple "#7", or "536 HRs" inscription raises the value of his photos/balls significantly, and I am sure he signed that a TON compared to extremely rare vulgar inscriptions like those above. I have seen balls inscribed "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Birthday" that turn a normal $400 ball into $1000+ instantly...

Inscriptions are so common now, I'm sure if The Mick was still alive Steiner would have him signing every inscription you can think of. But you really don't see many Mantle's inscribed, other than "To _____ Best Wishes", and obviously no more will be made!

Would any of you buy the obscenity Mantle balls, if money were object? The shock value would be fun, but a bit creepy, no?

Speaking of Steiner, I've heard that for the right price they'll do a meet and greet with Derek Jeter.

I would absolutely love to own any of those balls. I would not find it creepy at all, just hilarious.

I'm sure it probably costs 3-5k to share a few awkward seconds with Derek Jeter, no thanks. I'll wait til he's 55 doing autograph shows once people stop paying stupid amounts for his autograph.
