Hey thanks for posting these! This is a really nice set of IP'S!

Thank you.  Hopefully others will contribute as well.  It's fun to see what's been collected in person.  I chose these because they're some people I really like and it wasn't just an autograph, more of an honor and privilege for me to have to opportunity to say hello.  All were very gracious.  Jerry Lee even called me "Killer"....

That awesome! I met another one of my favorite bands called unearth. I hung outside with them drinking some beers for a good 2 hours. I didn't ask for autographs that day because I already bought one from the Unearth website. That was such a cool experience that I will never forget!
Wow, Neil Armstrong! That's awesome. That's worth a mint, even personalized. And to tell you the truth, if I had met Neil Armstrong, I think I'd have wanted it personalized too. So where did you meet him?
Sometimes if you are buying an autograph with an inscription it gives it nice character. And if its authentic it can look gourges! On the other hand if its fake it can look like a piece of absolute garbage that you would rather destroy than display in a million years! That is my quote of the day.
I totally agree that an inscription can add character to an autograph. To me, it kind of brings the autograph to life, especially if it's an historical figure. Like for instance with Babe Ruth. If it says "To Richard From Babe Ruth", I imagine someone actually meeting the Babe and getting the prized autograph. What I don't understand is that a handwritten letter from an old celebrity to an individual can be worth a lot of money, but a personalized ball or photo is worth less. Isn't a personalization kind of like a really short letter? Lol. Plus it's more writing in the hand of the celeb.
Yeah you totally said it right there!

Inscriptions also help determine if something is a forgery.  I specifically study Michael Jackson signatures, and there are more fake auto's out there than are legit--and there are some very good forgers out there.  However, throw some personalization on it - and they usually blow it.

One can gain more insight into something being legit or not with more to look at.

Absolutely! Well said!

I have never collected to sell so when requesting an autograph in person, if the subject seems willing, I usually asked for an inscription (to me).  Once I asked Michael McCartney to "put to Steve on it for me please" and he wrote just that over his signature.  Funny guy.
