eBay Case for Fake Autograph Decided in Seller's Favor

I purchased an autograph on eBay for several hundred dollars. Upon receiving it, I was immediately suspicious and requested to return to it. The seller refused and escalated the case to eBay. I paid for the PSA/DNA quick opinion which came back not likely genuine. I did not want to waste the money for the full authentication when the autograph is very obviously not real. I sent eBay the quick opinion screenshot. I got an email today that the case was decided in the seller's favor. I am a little surprised by this. As a former eBay seller, I know that eBay generally decides in the buyer's favor. There are a lot of idiot eBay buyers, but I believe that I have an actual good reason for a return. I am going to send it in the PSA/DNA for a full authentication, which I am confident will come back not genuine. Is there any way to re-open an eBay case at that time? Otherwise, I suppose I can dispute it with my credit card company which I used to fund the Paypal transactions.

I think eBay requires a full letter in order to find in the buyers favor
Psa quick opinion is often wrong - why don't you post the autograph here and get opinions.

You can't open a dispute after it's closed but I think if those who are familiar with the auto on here deem it fake then you should do a chargeback as they always win.

Why did you feel suspicious when you got it but not when you saw it and bought it?

I agree with Carlos I would post it here for opinions first.  I have often said on here that it is my belief "quick opinions" often err on the side of caution in regards to big ticket items.  I never use that anymore.  My opinion on eBay help is not a high one either.

Thanks for the response. I posted the autograph here a couple weeks ago and the one response was that it was probably not authentic. 

In regards to feeling suspicious when I received it instead of when I bought it, the item had pretty decent provenance. I guess I stupidly let that cloud my judgement. When I looked it over after receiving, I realized that it was fairly varied from any exemplars that I could find.

I attached a picture of the autograph (Judy Garland) in case anyone wants to take a look.

  it  doesn't look right to me imo.  She was often difficult to work for  so it also seems very unlikely that her dresser would have just be given a memento like that  for a keepsake.; -a payrise would have been more useful

That is NOT Judy Garland's signature.

I don't know Judy Garland's signature, but the one thing that stands out to me, looking at the attachment, her name appears to be written in a darker bolder ink than the inscription which is lighter all the way through.

I would open up the case with Paypal.  I resolved an issue that way with a seller that misrepresented a signed ball that I purchased.   they ruled in my favor.

I actually recently won a ebay case based on PSA/DNA quick opinion.  I guess it really depends on who handles the case.

The autograph is not authentic and I am certain of that. The pen pressure and general writing is wrong. It could have been written by a Manager or just be a forgery but is not her handwriting.

I had a case last year where a buyer here in NZ had bought an item on eBay that was fake. They also did PSA Quick Opinion but eBay awarded the case to the seller. They sent it for full authentication and it failed. They contacted eBay but it tool a few weeks and only after the credit card company said they would do a chargeback did eBay reopen the case. 

They do not like reopening cases but can do it and you can appeal a case but will probably need full authentication to do this. If they still refuse to refund then go to your credit card company showing it's a forgery and that should work.

If it is 100% a forgery, that's why I think people familiar with her auto here, then I wouldn't bother with getting a full rejection letter as you bite those fees. The best bet would be going straight with a chargeback

Matthew, you did the right thing by paying with your credit card.

Don't even bother with Ebay; go directly to your credit card company.
