Desirabilities vs Undesirable autographs.
What do collectors look for when buying a desirable set of signatures or signature?
Also on the opposite foot what make's an autograph undesirable, besides being forged.

For me, I look for the image the signature it is on, also ink colour means a lot. A lot like blue which in itself is a striking colour but I prefer black. I am also not overly keen on silver ink, but that's just personal preference. For group signatures, the same thing applies, I guess.
Undesirable is perhaps a sloppy, rushed autograph. Despite being genuine, for example, IP, its not something I would personally go for. I like, wherever possible, a nice clear signature.
I don't collect autographs quite as much as I once did but am always looking out for autographs to add now and again as I also enjoy meet and greets, too.

I'll show you an example of something I wouldn't want, pretty much at any price.
I've purchased plenty of full Florence signatures for under $100. Some for as low as $10.
This is not worth $400. It's not worth $100. I wouldn't pay $50. I don't care who says what about where it was signed or what they had to go through. It's freakin' awful.

Undesirable graphs may have resin from sticky tape over the signature or stamp marks on cheques, paper creases through signatures. Smudges could make the graph less desirable.
Full sets of signatures are always desirable like the beatles.

When i see Kurt cobain signature on a hospital bill, to me that less desirable than having an album signed by Cobain.

Sure, any physical blemish - tears, bends, creases, feathering, smudging, fading, light pen ink, dark area, etc

I agree Paul whenever a signature is touched or altered to me it is no longer that person's autograph. I avoid all such "restored" signatures like the plague.

Extra writing (other than a personalized inscription to someone other than myself) is always cool, whether it's a character name, lyric, nickname, etc.

Inscribtions add to the appeal of the autograph.
Bob marley would sometimes write rasta fari.
Lennon sometimes doodled, like other artis.

Personalized autographs (even though they may be to someone other than myself) have never bothered me at all. In fact, I often prefer them to just the celebrity's name by itself. To me, personalization brings the autograph to life. It gives character to the autograph. Particularly to vintage autographs of now deceased stars. In fact, in the case of many older celebrities, almost all of their items from way back when are personalized, and one has to be very careful if they find just a solitary autograph.
