I was about to buy a Gene Simmons Rock Headliner XI signed figure with COA form Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (GFA) but the signature is too perfect in my humble opinion.

After checking the Verification of Authenticity number 20594 corresponding to this autograph, it called to my attention that the following numbers 20595 to 20600 they all correspond to assorted action figures signed with what looks like the same felt type pens of different colors.

I read that GFA provided COAs of some sports memorabilia forgeries as this kind of memorabilia is more valuable than a signature of Gene Simmons, but I will appreciate your opinions about this collectible I want to buy.

Thank you

Hey Guys!

I have been looking at some more obscure auction houses for some overlooked gems and found an item claiming to be cut signatures from the Babe and Gehrig on a 3”x5”. It comes with a COA and LOA from GFA and Steve Rocci, both of whom I consider suspect and take caution when seeing this company’s name attached to anything.

Please see attached photos and if you have any thoughts I would love to hear from you guys. This forum is awesome and i hope to become proficient enough to be able to help as many of you have always done for me in the past. Thanks ahead of time !

This was a surprise. It's the only Tim Buckley piece I've ever seen from Antiquities, which appears to be signed "Tim Buskley." I guess the forensic examination didn’t catch the misspelling. Are there any other Buckley pieces from Antiquities? Maybe, hopefully, it's one of a kind.

From the auction description: Literature: Signari Gallery had been contacted by The Ronald McDonald House to assist in selling a large, private collection (with an emphasis on Frank Sinatra/"Rat Pack" and Madonna) that was bequeathed to them in the man's will. Each piece has been custom framed in a various array of presentation style/colors and while many of the frames are in good-very good condition, many of the frame moldings also exhibited a nick or two, light scratches. This frame is in very nice condition with a clear plexi-glass front. The plexi-glass overall is in very nice condition with a few light rubs (nothing major)
**All proceeds from the original auction benefited The Ronald McDonald House Charities**
Provenance: Signari Gallery Official Hologram

Here is an article on ESPN about Muhammad Ali signatures & forgeries.

Surprisingly, GFA's Steven Rocchi answered some questions for this article, which I found hilarious. Check out some of his quotes:

Surprisingly, GFA's Steven Rocchi answered some questions for this article, which I found hilarious. Check out some of his quotes:

"That company is GFA. Stephen Rocchi, who founded and runs the company, says he stands by every signature that GFA authenticates, and if someone claims what they bought was fake, he'll buy it back from them. He's only had to do that once since 2011, he says, with a Mickey Mantle autograph that he still believes was authentic.

Rocchi says his company gets bashed because, unlike the leaders in the industry, he said he doesn't let politics get in the way of authenticating pieces.

"We don't pay attention to how many autographs someone brings to us or who they are," Rocchi said. "We make it only about the autograph. We have exemplars, we match the autograph in front of us to the exemplars and have 15 points of authentication and if it matches, we call it real. We don't have deals with auction companies like the other guys do, and we don't know dealers. It's better that way."

When told that competitor JSA failed a GFA-certified Ali signature at a recent show, a signature that had been bought on eBay after Ali's death, Rocchi said that's because "our competition will fail anything with our sticker."

Check out these quotes from Tony Podsada:

"Podsada's items do not come with a certificate of authenticity. Disenchanted with the authentication business, Podsada said he merely offers buyers the assurance that it's a "decorative item only."

"I believe what I have is real, but I don't guarantee anything because I know too much," Podsada said."

LMAO!

Here are a few other interesting tidbits from the article:

"EBay does not pull auctions itself, as certain legal rulings have established that the marketplace does not have any legal liability if a person buys a fake on the site"

"EBay maintains that less than .025 percent of its listings in 2014 were identified as being "potentially counterfeit,"

"In the past month, 55 GFA-certified items have sold on eBay. Those items have sold for an average of $106.41 Include the GFA price of $25 for authentication, $20 to Podsada and eBay's 10 percent take and a seller's margin on Ali items, before shipping, is less than $46 per autograph.

Rocchi said he's proud of the low cost that is being delivered to the consumer, saying this is the way it's supposed to be."
Ebay Seller Disneycolector Sells Joe DiMaggio Forgerytag:live.autographmagazine.com,2016-01-03:3524372:Topic:8567672016-01-03T17:02:43.735ZCJCollectorhttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/ChristopherWilliams

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows "the story" behind what I perceive as the "GFA Koufax forgeries." At least to my eye, these stick out like a sore thumb when browsing eBay....the shape of the "S" is always too angular, the "x" is always wrong, and the signatures all look stilted and exactly the same. I'm seeing more and more of them, so I was just curious what the story is, and if they are still being produced, or is it just a coincidence that a lot of them are currently on the market.....thanks.
Forged 500 Homerun Club Baseball Ebay Seller Gofsu2010tag:live.autographmagazine.com,2015-09-26:3524372:Topic:8199962015-09-26T18:19:54.064ZCJCollectorhttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/ChristopherWilliams
