Hi all,

I am looking to buy a special gift for a big Pink Floyd fan and I am considering to buy a nice autographed piece. So the last couple of days I've started digging in to this (for me) unknown world of autographs. I am genuinely surprised by the amount of scams and forgeries that are out there. I think it is fair to say that 95% of everything that is offered is fake. I am starting this post to get some advise on where I can get some genuine autographs and also want to share some details about sellers of fake items. Hopefully this post will popup in some future Google searches to prevent someone like me from buying a forged autograph.

The only reliable seller that I've identified seems to be https://floydauthentic.com/, he is also member of this forum and he seems to be highly specialized in recognizing Pink Floyd specific autographs. It also seems that if you can get a copy of the "Psychedelic Renegades Deluxe" book (i.e. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156142289034) you will get a genuine Syd Barrett signature.

On the dark side we have way more people offering forgeries.
Definitely be careful with Zion Graphic Collectibles, for example: https://www.ziongraphiccollectibles.com/products/pink-floyd-autographed-lp-with-syd-barrett?_pos=26&_sid=f40eca563&_ss=r

I am not experienced enough to comment on any deviations within the autographs, but I can check all the other signs of potential fraudulent activity. Even though this is a formally registered company, both of the addresses are literally located in the middle of nowhere. They have stock of almost every big name which is rather impossible unless you are a very big major auction company or something like that. Another sign is that the website itself has some pages that show advertisements (i.e. empty news section with ads) and the social media buttons are non functional. If you have stock of 300k in autographs I guess that you also properly maintain your website. Last, but not least, I would dare to state that having signed vinyl with all 5 Pink Floyd members is extremely rare and would fetch a significantly higher price.

Some others where I am highly suspicious that they are also fraudulent:
https://quarterdeckcollectibles.com/ also offers on Etsy (JPsMemorabilia), i.e. https://www.etsy.com/nl/listing/1701142657/pink-floyd-original-autographed-the
Again, a very large stock, non functioning social media buttons and the COA seems to originate from GFA which (according to this forum) does not seem to be the most reliable company.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1653426954/pink-floyd-original-autographed-signed (OnlyJapanVinyl)
For that price I am rather certain that multiple members of this forum would have bought it already.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnthonyAutographs?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1688189258&from_page=listing&search_query=pink+floyd (AnthonyAutographs)
Large stock, located in Latvia.

https://www.invaluable.com/auction-house/rock-n-scroll-guitars-mn72597pcn (Rock n Scroll Guitars), also offering on Ebay with a different name (clinician12): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196222067147, prices seem to good to be true, streetview does not show a guitar shop on the given address.

I am rather certain that the ones that from my point of view are suspicious are most likely all forgeries, but I would love to be challenged by a member of this forum that is actually capable in identifying deviations in the signatures itself.

Above all, I would love to get some pointers towards obtaining genuine Pink Floyd autographs. If you have something within your collection that you would consider selling to me, I am open to offers (not certain if this is allowed on this forum, so please ignore this request if not allowed).

And I do hope that this post will prevent future purchases from these fraudulent vendors.

Elvis Photo Autograph - Real or Fake?tag:live.autographmagazine.com,2023-07-23:3524372:Topic:18507052023-07-23T01:30:35.042ZJohnny Mohttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/JohnnyMo

As a test, I bid on over 50 items in two of their recent auctions and then submitted images of most items to ACOA for review, with Star Wars signed photos going to SWAU for quick opinions.

EVERY SINGLE ITEM FAILED AUTHENTICATION.

I posted several items in this forum for complementary review, just to have a second opinion (without saying where the signatures originated) and the responses from members were overwhelmingly negative.

Of course I will not pay The Collectors Hub for any of these fake items!

They did not provide their names and they are very guarded about where to send payments. Unfortunately I was unable to tease bank details out of them. They claim to be in the USA but there is evidence that they are not, with one person suggesting China. From email contacts it was clear that English is not their first language.

I came across this dealer/authenticator on Ebay who seems to have a wide-ranging collection of movie and tv stars. Prices range, with modern stars like Timothee Chalamet reaching prices of $250 and Leo DiCaprio at $190, to Geena Davis at merely $60 and Burton at $120. Some of these price differences raise questions for me, as while I am myself a big Chalamet fan for instance, I cannot fathom why his sig would cost more than a Tim Burton or Leonard Nimoy, but the dealer notes she obtains them…

Some of these price differences raise questions for me, as while I am myself a big Chalamet fan for instance, I cannot fathom why his sig would cost more than a Tim Burton or Leonard Nimoy, but the dealer notes she obtains them in different ways, be it personally or through resale etc., and he is a more "of the moment" star anyway, so maybe that's the reason.

I am attaching links to her website and ebay store pages here:

https://www.authenticautographcentre.com/about.html

https://www.ebay.com/usr/authenticautographcentre/

She authenticates items herself with her own COA, and notes on her site she is not part of the RACC due to "membership fees." Not seeing something from JSA, PSA, or BAC also has me scratching my head, given that this person seems to be self-taught from years of collecting herself and educational training at the schools listed on her website page (linked above). There are no reviews of her online aside from 10 word reviews about shipping time etc. that are typical to any ebay store. She may very well be a lovely, truthful fan who has gotten into the business of dealing and authenticating too, but before I consider buying anything, would love thoughts from the community here on the items she has for sale and these possible red flags that I have noted here. Thank you!

UPDATE: After asking for JSA/PSA, BAC certification willingness and explaining that I am a novice, so I am following the advice that is widely expressed online to ensure the autograph I was looking at was indeed authentic, she blocked me from purchasing anything from her store or placing bids. I had also expressed that I would perhaps excuse the lack of a COA from these groups were she to get more information from the dealer she said she'd obtained the autograph from, so I'd know more about how it was signed and came into her possession, or if I would be able to know what her return policy was in case I got the certification done myself after the fact. She had sent me a short message stating that I should buy autographs from others who already have those 3 certifications if I place my trust in those, but that they make too many mistakes for them to be trustworthy for herself, and did not answer anything else I'd expressed in my message to her. I sympathize with some of this, as yes, it is well-known that authenticators can and will get things wrong. However, I hope that anyone googling this store will come across my discussion post here and note the same various red flags that I have, and proceed with extreme caution when buying from her. AAC again, may be a great dealer who simply blocked a novice who seemed too nervous to trust her, but the attitude, lack of willingness to even tolerate the RACC, JSA etc. and be defensive in their discussions of it, and so forth indicate to me that it is likely this seller is not all they seem. I hope to see further reviews of her in the future that prove that intuition wrong however!
Prestige Collectables===Brian Burkel========look at these bob dylan forgeriestag:live.autographmagazine.com,2020-11-10:3524372:Topic:15487182020-11-10T03:14:28.361Zbernard howardhttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/bernardhoward

I remember how much fun it was to receive a signed photo in the mail. I now live in the Los Angeles area I’ve been able to get many autographs in person which is wonderful. That’s really the only way to know for sure it’s 100% authentic. But, my collection was always missing my favorite actor of all time, Marlon Brando. I studied his autograph a bit and found something on eBay that I purchased and got for a steal. Personally, I feel the cost doesn’t necessarily coincide with authenticity. I just got lucky with an auction. You all are the experts, so I’d love some feedback. The third photo I lightened up significantly to get a better look at the signature. I also like that the item itself is pretty rare. It did come with an original COA/ The seller is selling his entire collection of items and he originally bought it in a store in Hollywood. I believe that he believes it is real and is not trying to scam me or anyone. He has a wide array of signed items for auction. Although we all know a COA doesn’t mean much as they are just as easily faked. Thanks so much looking forward to your replies!

Look close and you'll see that it has the characteristics of laser printing that at first you might dismiss as JPG artifacts.

This is likely by a process called laser ink transfer. A high-resolution image is scanned or photographed and reversed to a mirror image. It's printed on laser ink transfer paper, placed on the target surface, heated, like with a hairdryer, until it transfers over, then the paper it's on is carefully lifted off.

Hello everyone, this morning I found a pretty interesting forgery on ebay and since its pretty well done (and someone bid on it already), I thought it would be wise to call him out.

The listing Im talking about is this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MICHAEL-JACKSON-ORIGINAL-SIGNED-PHOTO-MJJ-AUTOGRAPH-SIGNATURE-smile-promo-fedora/401767284921?hash=item5d8b3240b9:g:YqsAAOSwGCBc2eh~&frcectupt=true

Seller's name: seal80

What makes this listing interesting is the fact that you will get not only a signed promo photo, but there is also a proof picture of MJ with a kid holding the autograph:

I often look for signed photos online and when I saw this one I had a weird feeling. Some weeks ago I found another signed promo photo, this time from the BAD era and the style on that one was identical to this one, take a look:

When I realized there was something off I had to investigate a little more about the event during which the seller claims the picture was signed. I found another picture from the same event and in that one Michael had his curls falling on his right side of the face. This is relevant because in the photo you can see in the ebay listing the curls fall on his left side:

so finally after some digging I managed to find the original, non photoshopped, picture of Michael and the kid holding the photo. The quality is not great, but you can clearly tell the autograph the guy is selling is not the one the kid is holding. I can't tell if the promo photo the kid is holding is signed or not, but what I can tell for sure is that the autograph offered on ebay is not there:

So what I believe happened is this: the seller flipped and photoshopped the original photo. The picture seen in the listing is the exact photo you can see above, the weird thing is that the seller also photoshopped the shirt, because otherwise the Capone writing would have been backwards. Here is a side by side comparison, I flipped the photo listed on ebay to prove that its the exact same photo.
Check out this beautifully signed Mickey Mantle baseball......Lou Gehrig too!tag:live.autographmagazine.com,2018-01-13:3524372:Topic:11607052018-01-13T05:02:26.248ZStevehttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/SteveKahldon

Check out this piece of crap. Someone has bid $350 on it. The seller also has a Lou Gehrig listed with a $400 bid on it.
