Btw - I came across another company yesterday that also seems to be tied in to Dypto, Luxewest, and High End Memorabilia. The company's name is Laguna Beach Auction House and they appear to be running the same type of scam. They were holding an on-line auction of autographed music memorabilia yesterday, also via Liveauctioneers.com, - who obviously are not doing much to vet the companies listing auctions on their site. The Laguna Beach House auction offered many of the same items that were being sold by Dypto in the auction I participated in May 12th including around 8 different Beatles albums allegedly signed by the Fab Four. I certainly have to question just how many people are really willing to part with something of that value - all at the same time.

Those authenticty books/binders are so nice they make you want to believe. Even after all this I found myself looking over them and wondering.. It took a lot but I tossed them.
Hi Fred,

I was able to call my bank Wells Fargo and they reversed the charges. Luxe West/High End Mem - called me when they got wind of the reversal. I did speak with a nice woman, who "seemed" to be caught in the middle. (I suspect she is trained to be soft spoken and nice to calm down upset customers - this is just my opinion). She said they would refund me, and would send return labels. That was 2 weeks ago - I am not sure how this will end. I bought several item in the June…

I bought several item in the June auctions - Elvis Presley, Audrey Hepburn, Carpenters Autographs - the Elvis and Audrey came back fake - sent the to PSA, and I was so convinced about the Audrey I sent it to JSA an they said it was fake too.

The lady explained to me that they have ppl "they trust" send them info on what they have. Luxe West post these items, even though they may not even have them in hand. When you win they send a very nice bound authenticity. Unfortunately it doesn't mean much but looks very official. She went on to state that "sometimes we get duped too". I found that shocking as they know but they take the risk - how many people are embarrassed or believe in the nice Authenticity book.
Thank you for the information…tag:live.autographmagazine.com,2019-06-15:3524372:Comment:13550422019-06-15T23:15:48.605ZFred Padgetthttps://live.autographmagazine.com/profile/FredPadgett

Thank you for the information Steve. I recently participated in an on-line auction of of autographed music memorabilia.
Thank you for the information Steve. I recently participated in an on-line auction of of autographed music memorabilia. This was the 1st time I participated in this type of auction and I now regret not doing more research beforehand as I now have serious concerns re: the legitimacy of the companies involved and the authenticity of the items I purchased.

The auction I am referring to took place on May 12, 2019 and was proffered by Liveauctioneers.com. The items I purchased were offered by Dypto Auctions supposedly based in California but it turns out that 2 other companies were also involved - Luxewest, Inc. and High End Memorabilia. It seems like all 3 of these companies are tied together somehow.

I purchased 4 items - 3 band-signed LPs & 1 band- signed drumhead. After 3 weeks and several contact attempts I finally received the items however, only 3 of the items, out of the 4 I had purchased, were contained in the shipment which was sent by Luxewest who stated they were being sold by High End Memorabilia. The 4th item which was missing from the shipment was supposed to be a band-signed copy of Tom Petty's "Damn the Torpedoes" LP. Additionally, one of the items - which was supposed to be a band-signed copy of Foreigner's "Head Games" Album was advertised as contains autographs from all 6 original Foreigner members however, there were only 4 signatures on the LP that I received.

I have since tried to contact Dypto, Luxewest, & High End Memorabilia to find out what happened to the Tom Petty LP & to find out why the Foreigner album only has 4 of the 6 signatures advertised but have had no success in getting them to respond to my questions/concerns. All emails have either gone unanswered or have been returned as undeliverable. All phone calls have been routed to voicemails with either no identifying information or to voicemail boxes which are full.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I may do to try to get these companies to respond, & to hopefully resolve these issues? Also, you mentioned in your post a California law(s) which govern auction companies. Do you have a specific statute that I can refer to in any future communication with these companies?

I'm sorry to hear that. Please post what you bought.

Until the last week or so, High End Memorabilia's terms of sale said you can't return anything, and if you initiate a charge-back or don't comply with some other terms, you were admitting to fraud against them. They just changed the terms it seems, but they still state:

Signatures & Authenticity Guarantee

All autographed items come with a Lifetime Certificate of Authenticity with numbered tamper-proof decal. This Certification of Authenticity does not imply that the item will be certified by any other rival authentication companies. The accompanied certification is the only certification the auction company can confirm. These items are being sold as collectable pieces and there is no guarantee that this item can be resold on any online marketplace. Each of these companies has their own policies and politics.

"Collectable pieces" is a terms commonly used for reproduction. And they clearly don't guarantee that what they pay will pass any certification service or be resalable at all.
