AL Member Steve Zarelli is the subject matter expert on this one I’d say.

looks very shaky and traced.

Agreed, odd forms and lacking  conviction.

Zarelli pre-cert RR:

Thanks guys for helping, much appreciated!

I agree, but is somewhat surprised since this is offered by an older man who claims he got this together with his father when they met Gagarin here in Sweden. He doesn’t strike me as the typical forger and to glue a forgery in to an old autograph book isn’t the usual thing to do either.

Neither of these things come into play.

Agree, I’ve been in this game long enough to know that as you know my friend. Just pointing out that I was a bit surprised by that.

Yes :-)

Best wishes for the New Year!

Wish you the same my friend!!

I do not know Gagarin's signature at all but I didn't like it when I first saw this posted.

It's slowly drawn, has no fluidity, and I'm not sure he would have written the "Cs" in that style.  Gagarin did not live into old age so that can't be an excuse.

I wouldn't allow any kind of backstory to sway you into overlooking obvious issues.

As for gluing it into an autograph book decades ago, that was some mighty special glue they had back then that shows no signs of aging or discoloring. 😉

Fair points! :-)
