Maybe he is tired of signing for you if you have been "collecting" his signature for years.

My girlfriend and I went to London to see if we could see Paul and get an autograph.

On Wednesday, we waited outside the Maida Vale Studios, Paul did sign, but was only signing his first name. He also happened to pick the side which was full of autograp dealers and not the fans.

I also went to the HMV signing and camped out all night. Unfortunately Paul, left about 4 people before me :(

To be honest the HMV setup was a bit of a mess, with people who'd queued all night being put down in the basement and not even seeing Paul at all. Where as people entering the shop 5 mins before Paul arrived, got to see everything.

..views based on my first hand encounters, but also hearing the experiences of other people and what Macca has said about signing (in the press, especially regarding signing in public places) ; my sporadic, brief encounters are spread over about 25 years -he does not know or recognise me I assure you , and he has always been really nice (signing or not signing ), and has never suggested to me personally that I am just going to sell any item on eBay .

Thanks for the explanation, I used to do "street graphing" as the younger guys call it, years ago, but eventually just found it distasteful. I only did it for my personal collection , only ever had the nerve to ask for one and was always polite even if refused. I witnessed many times people insulting celebrities if they were rushing and not wanting to sign. Most of the same clowns would stalk these people constantly. I read here some accost Paul  every time he tries to walk around his town. This kind of stuff is what ruins it for real fans. Im glad to read your not one of them. Thanks for the story.

I saw this very thing happen Tuesday when Paul was at the Shard in London. He came out the garage in his car, and waved to people.

One guy, a dealer I believe, chased the car up the road. Traffics lights were on stop, and Pauls car had to wait for around 10 minutes. This guy had got to Pauls car and was struggling with a special constable. He eventually got the guitar he was carrying into the window of the car, and Paul did sign it. I think he probably signed just to get rid of the guy.

Me and my girlfriend who didnt get anything, stood politely and quietly. We also had this same experience outside Maida Vale Studios, all the dealers who push you out the way, and scream at Paul were the ones getting signatures from him, where as the quiet fans who waited patiently hoping he would come over to them, got nothing.

Its a shame theres money in this game, as if there wasn't it would only be the real fans there, and none of these dealers.

.. Once outside his office I saw Paul, I was on my own- he said he couldn't sign because he was carrying a bag or something .. We had a brief nice chat about his forthcoming appearance at the Olympics .. He got in the car, then looked out window and said ' I can do it now.. ' cause you were very respectful'.. Very nice- pays to show some respect, real fans usually do

Thats a very nice story!

Yes I am a Beatles/PAul fan, and my signatures are for myself and will never be sold; I would also not go up to him in restaurants, outside his home etc...important to show some respect, and I too have witnessed 'aggressive' collectors on many occasions.

Since we are on the subject it gives me an opening to relay stories. In the Philadelphia area there used to be a couple of big aggressive bald guys who would tell you not to stand on their corner or one would shield others away while the other one would get the graph . Of course these guys were just there for profit. Even on youtube if you look around on autograph collecting you can see people arguing and fighting. There is some red headed guy who is infamous for pushing and shoving and seemingly enjoying confrontations! People would be civil until the star showed up then it was like a shark frenzy! I saw too much of it and just want no part of that stuff any more! Many street sigs aren't very nice anyway.

Thats abit cheeky. First looks real, and then hes faked the second one.

I'm pretty sure the gold wristbands didn't allow a second person. There were 60 gold wristbands. If each were allowed another person that would have been 120 signatures.

It's not just cheeky....it's pathetic !!! he's just tried to copy it himself...the first one is fine...why would he do this ?
