Got a CD of Madonna autographed. It it real?

The same contains a certificate of authenticity of Walt Disney Attractions Inc/ Buena Vista Films (and via google search, it is true that Buena Vista Films distributed the film Evita). But since Madonna`s autographs are so different I´m confussed. What do you think?

Thanks

David

from what i can see those walt disney look a bit home made and on thin paper the ones ive seen are numbered stickers on the back of the item and usually come with a gold star sticker to the front aswell these look like computer print offs and the long one sealing the case looks a bit unevenly cut though it could be the angle of the photo

Thanks for your reply Rogers. In fact I bought this cd on MercadoLibre from Argentina (the local e-bay) for a ridiculos price of ARS 200 (around USD 17), that CD was being sold on the same place at ARS 500 but no one even posted questions. Just in case I hit it the buy button but I didn´t pick up the CD yet. What do you think: should I go and purchase that CD or not?

Sometimes in Argentina people dont know what they have. In fact a couple of weeks ago Gino Vanelli came for a concert in Argentina and after that he made an surprisingly and unannounced Meet & Greet for those who bought his merchandise at the entrance of the theater he was performing. As I got my picture with him and he signed some stuff for me, 3 days later I checked on Mercado Libre to see if anyone was selling his stuff autographed and someone was selling one of his old vinyls autographed for the ridiculous price of ARS 80 (the price of a Mc Donald´s combo in Argentina) So I didn´t think twice and purchased it, even tough I got signed my stuff by Vannelli himself, afterwards no one sold his stuff. And the price I paid not even covers the price of the vinyl alone without the signature.

And that was not the first time I got a bargain on MercadoLibre Argentina, but on other different issues. Altough Madonna signature is one of the most expensive´s in the world sometimes people in Argentina sell their stuf for a bargain for economic reasons.

What do you think: should I go and purchase that CD or not?

Thank you

David

Yeah thats what they want you to think. I wouldnt touch it.

Hi David im no madonna expert just got a bit of knowledge on the disney coas and certain cds that i have bought from argentina and to me it seems to be an attempt to make it appear a bit more authentic the signature may be ok but there are Madonna experts on the site who will give you an opinion, please dont buy/or not on my opinion alone wait for someone else to check the signature ..hope that helps   cheers

Well, the Evita Soundtrack was released in 1996. If you assume that the CD may have been signed around that time period, then you would have to think that this is a forgery, because I don't believe this was Madonna's autograph style in the mid-90s. Her autograph style is more similar to this one now. However, from the mid-80s to the mid-90s she had a much different style than this one. Although Madonna has had many different autograph styles, it appears to me as though a forger didn't do enough homework here.

I agree with the others - the COA looks bogus.  Is "Walt Disney Attractions" even a thing?

She can be all over the place- I mean, she can really hand out some sloppy crap sometimes, which makes her worse examples very hard to authenticate. I thnk Roger has said publicly that at one point he didn't want to authenticate her because she just scibbles at times.

At best this is a not able to render an opinion, my feeling is to steer clear.

If you whipped out a Michael Wehrmann COA, I could just as easily flip my mind, but what is really bothering me is the first "a," because she rarely even makes it. She does, sometimes, but I've never seen it look like this. You normally go from the bottom of the M into a little point and straight off to the d. This one here goes to the bottom of the M, up to a loop, into an "a" I've never seen, and then off to the d. It's this busyness that has me a little concerned. You would have a pretty rare bird here to have that much going on between the M and d.

The Scribbled last third actually looks good, but really, it's a scibble, so...

The "M" is also a style you mostly see on checks or contracts before this time period.

It's her inconsistency and sloppyness that gives this any sort of shot, and if we're relying on that as hope, I'd cast my rod in a different lake. I would need to know more about its provenance to push me in another direction.

Hope this helps.
