Authenticity is Everything
Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')
I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures' or 'Disney characters'.
Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

More fake MJ drawings, this time from 'Gotta'.
1. Mickey Mouse (in King-style cloak and crown, with glove). LoA from RE. Starting bids from $1k, but already at $2,100.

Another Mickey Mouse fake drawing, this time from WeeArt Gallery Inc of Irvine CA listed on liveauctioneers with a starting price of $500 and a crazy estimate of $20-35,000.
Like many fake MJ drawings, this is a copy of another (likely fake) drawing, this time by Brett LS, who also created a portrait and various paintings of MJ. The original 'Baseball Mickey' drawing is included on p73 of Brett's book 'Kunstwerke von Michael Jackson', where the dimensions are given as 46.3 x 40.3 cms. This drawing was unsold at the Kings Auction of 'MJ drawings' held on 13 October 2024. The MJ Estate has indicated that the Brett LS 'MJ drawing collection' does not have proof of authenticity, and before the Kings Auctions sale gave a public warning of 'buyer(s) beware'.
