Star Wars Collectors Unite!

I have been collecting Star Wars autographs since 1998.  Not all of my signatures are on Star Wars memorabilia.  For example, when I met Warwick Davis at a comic convention in New York City, I had him sign a Willow photograph.  I also have publicity photos of Sir Alec Guinness and Christopher Lee from the 1970s, and a Natalie Portman signed The Diary of Anne Frank theater poster from her performance on Broadway back in 1998.  My current wish list includes Peter Cushing, Terence Stamp and John Williams.  I am interested in knowing about the collections and wish lists of other members.

Curious about Bob Anderson. Official Pix says they will be offering Harrison Ford autographs again for anybody interested.

Yes, in fact my buddy Anthony and I found Bob back in the 1990's and were the first people to impress upon him his importance to the role. At that time he was bouncing back and forth among the UK , Canada and Florida. Peter Diamond the other unsung hero of the SW trilogy, finally talked Bob into attending a convention to meet his fans.

After Bob, I would say that Dave and James are pretty equal in importance, with Dave's health being on the decline, my thoughts would be to buy a Dave, then send it to James as he has been the greatest TTM autograph signer known to SW collectors...ever!

David Prowse.  Simply because I would prefer the autograph of the actor in the Darth Vader costume to the autograph of the Darth Vader voice actor.

I can undestand wanting the actor instead of the voice, but you can look at it another way as well,  James has a real body of work. 100 years from now people will still remember Mr. Jones.

Bob Anderson was "the Hollywood Swordmaster"  not only was he Vader in all the ESB and Jedi duels, he also was an uncredited fight choreographer for ANH. We won't even go into his work on LOTR, Highlander, Zorro, The Princess Bride, Bond films, Pirates, and the ton of other films he was responsible for.

A WWII vet, he was also an Olympic fencer, whose career went all the way back to working with arguably the greatest Hollywood Swashbuckler of all time, Errol Flynn.

Bob passed away on New Years Day 2012.

This last bit is pretty telling

A recent item placed before George Lucas to be signed in NYC, was indeed signed by George, and upon his noticing Bob had signed the piece.....George Lucas himself added "Was Darth Vader" under Bob's signature.

James has been signing his fan mail for decades, while he is usually quite busy doing plays and such throughout the year , he makes sure to sit down and bang thru his piles of fanmail whenever he is home in Pawling, NY.

The stuff I had for James to sign was material that I didn't feel comfortable putting the items in the mail, I arranged with a few friends to drive the items to his home/office and they handled the signing that weekend, we then picked the stuff up.

He is also great about having his assistant take items into the plays he is doing and signing there for fans waiting outside.

The man is a true gentleman, who has never disappointed a fan.

He will no longer sign standing outside a venue or in the streets, but if he can sit down and sign he does.

Well if JEJ carries the title of most TTM autographs of the franchise, then his counterpart David Prowse has to be known for being the biggest IP autograph of the franchise.

Dave, Kenny, Jeremy and Peter have all been available to fans all over the world on a fairly regular basis. Dave and Kenny due to health issues have limited their appearances in the last few years, mostly to UK conventions.

Jeremy is a great guy and likely deserves the title just for his fan friendly appearances.

The ongoing joke has been that Peter would show up at a garage door opening. 

This is based on the fact that back in the 70's and 80's, prior to big fan conventions, minor celebs would be booked for appearances at grand openings of new stores or businesses. This is spoofed nicely in the best "made for us" comedy Galaxy Quest.

Mr. Mayhew gets my vote for biggest SW con-ho, but beware, while he is likely the most common guest to find at shows around the world, more often than not, he can be less than pleasant to meet.
