Long time no post - hectic start to my year!

I was browsing through some upcoming auctions and noticed this strange piece. It is a type-written letter in Paul's name with what is apparently a stamped signature and hand-written additions (more than just the xxx shown in the scan). It dates from 1963.

I am 99.9% sure that the hand-written additions are from Paul. A couple of questions:

1. Did Paul (and/or the other Beatles) use stamps often? I don't ever remember seeing an example myself - and certainly not on a genuinely personal letter.

2. Any idea why Paul would add a couple of sentences by hand but still use a stamped signature? Anyone know how the general process used for producing such letters (dictation, stamping by secretary, final review by Paul prior to posting etc.)? I presume none of the Beatles could type to save their lives.

Sorry about the lousy small scan. Here's the whole thing...

here is another 1963 Paul letter. yOURS looks the same right down to his home return address.

but the stamp is puzzling. If he is using his home return address things had not got that sophisticated yet so the stamp seems out of place for that time
