Last weekend, I got the in-person autographs of former baseball players Howie Bedell and Brian Jordan. Though he only hit .193, Howie is best known for breaking up Don Drysdale's 58 2/3 consecutive scoreless inning streak in 1968. Brian, who also played safety for the Atlanta Falcons in the early 1990s, was an All-Star in 1999, and was an outfielder for many great Atlanta Braves teams in the 1990s.

I wanted to share a autographed item with you... of renowned photographer and painter Chuck Close, whom, although he suffered a severe spinal artery collapse in 1988 which left him paralyzed from the neck down, continues his artistic quest.

I met Close and secured his autograph on two event programs back on May 29, 2008 when he was awarded the Columbia University Health Sciences Adivisory Council Medal for his stem cell research advocacy. At the time I was the videographer of the occasion. To sign for me, he held the marker I handed to him between the palms of his hands.

The reason I bring this to your attention now is because Close is presently in the national spotlight/ in the news. He and other artists and estate of artist Robert Graham have filed two class-action suits against the New York outlets of Christie's and Sotheby's for allegedly violating the 1977 California Resale Royalty Act.

I'm not going to go into any details about the suit, and hope things do get resolved, but it was a pleasure to met Chuck Close when I did.

Yesterday, I got the autograph of Atlanta Falcons linebacker, Mike Peterson, at a Publix grocery store in Smyrna, GA. It was part of the Atlanta Falcons Tailgate Team promotion in conjunction with Kraft foods. Purchase 5 Kraft products, and you got to meet Mike! Mike was an All-American at Florida in 1998, and an All-Pro with the Jaguars in 2005. He was super nice to everyone who came out to the event, posed for pictures, and chatted with all us fans.

Michael, look over Peter's shoulder and you'll discover Paul Stookey.
