The news on Bush's Decision Points gets worse.

Again, from Crown, as seen on Booktryst:

"I can confirm that 4,700 copies is the full extent of the limited edition print run as well as that there will be no additional printings. I can also confirm that each and every copy of the limited edition run was personally signed by President Bush and that no autopen or surrogates were used.

"President Bush was not informed that the print run size had been increased without notification to customers, and Crown Publishers takes full responsibility."

Kane -

Thanks for the heads-up on the increase in the number of editions of Bush's memoirs. That is very disappointing news. Too bad they didn't opt to do a "deluxe" limited in addition to an unnumbered limited, as previous presidents have done. At 4,500 this would be the largest single limited edition of a presidential memoir (not including Easton Press books). Both Carter and Nixon did a deluxe leather bound, slipcased edition (limitation of 2,500) as well as an unnumbered "limited" edition.

I was also wondering if anyone here has ordered and received President Bush's signed, limited edition of "Decision Points." The publisher originally indicated this book would be limited to 1000 copies. But because many people bought all the copies in pre-order, Crown Publishing, without warning, expanded the limitation to 4500. So there are now 4500 copies in the limited edition, which hardly makes it limited. What are your thoughts and feelings on this? I think this would be the largest limitation for any Presidential book, am I correct? (And I'm talking about signed and numbered limitations.)

To answer Mr. Altmann's question, I have several of these bookplates, and none match the other. They all appear to be hand signed. They also don't match any known autopen signature. I'd bet they are genuine.

I have a J.F.K. in office photo similar to the one in the J.F.K. autograph instructional you tube video.
Is there anyone here who could identify if it is real or secretarial? Its in 'My photos'
Thank you

I was just curious if Mr. Reznikoff or any other expert in modern presidential autographs have seen the George W. Bush "Decision Points" signed bookplates that have recently been hitting the market? What are your expert opinion(s) as to the authenticity of the signatures? Those known to drink from the company kool-aid and never question what one is told, need not reply. I myself am not an expert in presidential or historical signatures, but very curious about these signatures in particular. Thank you!
